Description: Shalith rises and chooses the best of her chasers
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 12 of Turn 6
Things were more irritating than usual and Shalith seemed to be
flirting with every male in the Weyr. Cosani knew what that meant, so
she waited impatiently for her dragon to rise. She didn't like the way
the days leading up to it made her feel and she wanted it over with.
Finally Shalith stretched on the ledge, lust burning through her and
echoing through her rider.
}:Who will dare to chase me?:{ Shalith's bugle echoed off the rock of the
Weyr.
E'ron was taken completely by surprise. One minute he was repairing
flight straps, the next Feykenth was skyward without a word. E'ron
cursed, dropped his straps and ran toward the flight room. While he
ran he worried. Things had been going so well with Pierka, he didn't
want this to mess things up! **Why now?** but there was no answer from
his dragon but anticipation.
}:I dare,:{ replied Naath with an answering bugle.
Naath's rider asked **Who?**
}:Cosani and Shalith,:{ Naath told I'lan. }:We will fly well today.:{
}: I do! :{ Kedvencth roared, young and full of confidence.
**Who is it?** N'mor wanted to know.
}: Lovely Shalith,:{ Ked replied.
** That means Cosani. Now, this is a flight I would like to win,**
N'mor remarked when he rushed to join his dragon. Truth to be told,
that was very unlikely. Ked had only won once and N'mor rather not
remember that one.
When Shalith cried out her challenge,a well-seasoned green-chaser
named Virwoth answered her call without hesitation. }: I dare, my fair
green! Because you are the prettiest I have ever seen! :{ His rider,
T'jar, was less amused and sighed at his Lifemate's poor and obnoxious
rhyming skills. He couldn't ignore the waves of lust that his blue was
sending him, though, and the raven-haired rider jumped to his feet,
leaving behind the sketchpad he had been working on so eagerly.
Mnoranth's brass bellow rang from the heights as he announced his
intention to chase. R'enh stood up in his meeting. "I have to go," he
shrugged. "A flight," he added by way of explanation. He hurried off
to join the other riders.
}:Lovely Shalith...:{ Cacholetyth flirted with the green, even as he sent a
mental image to his rider. }:Let us show you what we can do.:{
}:Prove yourselves!:{ Shalith bugled again before launching into the
sky. She loved this feeling, lust rolling through her, the males
calling for her attention as she soared higher. Cosani was wary,
worried that she might get stuck with someone unpleasant, hoping to
get someone experienced ... or at least enthusiastic.
Feykenth was enthusiastic but not experienced. He had only chansed a
couple of greens and had never caught one. Mostly because he did as he
did now, he used up all his energy following after Shalith like a
bullet. He'd most likely be burnt out long before his rivals grew
tired. Not that he knew that, but he'd have turns and flights to learn
to art of catching greens. So he just followed, enjoying the
experience.
}: You know I'm the best for you!:{ Ked declared and pushed himself
off from the ground. His large wings beated strongly. He wasn't as
fast as the blues, but he was _bronze_.
}: I will prove myself to you my love, because soon you will see I fit
you like a glove! :{ the blue chaser called out enthusiastically,
using the agility and speed so common to his colour to stay ahead of
most of his competitors. Virwoth could only hope Shalith had the same
amount of stamina as he did, though, because he would not outlast the
bronzes and browns if the flight went on too long. When his rider, T'
jar, reached the flightroom a lustful grin curled around the man's
lips. Now she was a prize worth leaving his work behind!
Mnoranth hadn't bothered to drop from the heights to the bowl but
launched from the pinnacle as soon as the green hit the air. She shot
past him but his mighty leap brought him close with all the other
chasers behind the glowing green dart. His broad bronze wings stroked
powerfully behind her.
Still full of energy, Shalith went higher, turning and twisting. She
was young and strong, and only the best would have her! An overeager
blue moved too close and she dodge out of the way. }:You won't have
me! Not so soon!:{ The males had to work for it and she made another
turn, feeling like she owned the sky.
Feykenth made a lunge and missed. That was the last of his energy and he
quickly dropped behind and then dropped out. He was tired and disappointed
but he'd live to try again another day.
Cacholetyth was that determined blue, and he wasn't going to give up. No,
not at all, with that stunning green in his sights.}:You tease, my darling
green,:{ he called to her. }:Let me show you more:{
Naath was a determined bronze, wings beating, he climbed easily as high as
Shalith. He had the stamina to show her what he could really do, if only she
could choose him.
Kedvencth was preserving his strenght, not daring to risk it. He
really wanted to catch this green!
So he stayed on her wake, not trying anything fancy like lunges and
sudden bursts of speed.
Mnoranth's position didn't last long behind the green as the faster
blues and more maneuverable browns cut in. He rose on a thermal as she
climbed higher. Tireless wings could last far longer than the green's.
All he had to do was stay free of the pack and allow her to choose him
or catch her if she made the wrong move. }:You glow so brightly in the
sky beautiful Shalith:{ he called to her.
At last the green began to tire, going through a few more twists and
turns as she considered her suitors. Many handsome males were still in
the chase, but only the best would do for her. Yes, that one. The
bronze had caught Elleth so he _must_ be worthy enough for her as
well. Shalith swerved and put herself right in Mnoranth's path. }:You
are the best.:{
}:I am the best,:{ called out an affronted Naath. }:You could still change
your mind, choose me!:{
But in less than a heartbeat Mnoranth had her entangled with a brass
bellow of triumph. }:Mine:{ They fell through the skies in a spiral of
green and bronze. R'enh mimicked his lifemate "Mine," he said hoarsely
and enfolding Cosani and headed into the alcove prepared for them.
Ked was bitterly disappointed, again. He head back to his ledge, while
N'mor tried to shake off the effects of the Flight.
Letting out a most frustrated bugle, Virwoth veered off and away from
the bronze who had just won his desired prize. As the blue winged back
to his ledge to sleep off his frustration, his rider T'jar found
release in the arms of a woman eagerly awaiting the disappointed
riders.
