Tavia didn't notice at first but there seemed to be more and more
flits in her Weyr. Glory was of course buried into her pillows on the
bed fast asleep. She was feeling more than a little cranky but she
maintained until she'd fed Kaiavin and put him down. The evening was
beautiful as she walked into the outer weyr to look at the sky. She
was finally feeling like she was finding her peace when Glory woke and
shot out of the weyr with a screech like a golden bolt of lightning.
A rush of feelings similar to those she'd felt from Sawauth in the
past blew past her and into the blue and gold sky followed closely by
a fair of bronze, brown and blue flits. "Haha! You lead them a merry
chase," she called after the glowing gold. While the feeling effected
her she wasn't ruled by them as she would have had it been her green
lifemate.
Glory shot skyward calling teasingly to her suitors. None of them
would catch her until she was good and ready.
Ember flew after the glowing queen, his reddish-brown hide glistering
in the sun. On the ground, N'mor blushed with emotions from his
firelizard reached him too. Shielding his eyes, he tried to spot the
Flight. He saw the glimmer of gold. **A gold flight!** He was awed.
No matter how many times it happened and how old her flit was, Petrell
could never get used to her bronze Flying, let alone win a gold
Flight! So it was with a groan as she sat up from cleaning her
green's straps to watch her eager little man flap after the young
gold. And it looked like her wingmate Tavia's gold as well. Ah well,
if he caught they could have a chuckle about it tomorrow! She
determinedly ignored her green's amusement as she turned back to
cleaning her straps.
Little Hermy had more than a few bronzes to contend with. There were
more than a few wild flits in the chase. One small lean one blocked
his view of the beautiful queen. That set off a chain reaction,
knocking two browns and one tiny blue right out of contention. The
browns turned on the blue in their frustration, setting off a group of
greens close by.
Dancer shot out of R'enh's weyr with a chitter and squawk of
impatience for his pet who was trying to get him to take a message
somewhere. He could hear the curse that was hurled after him but he
didn't care. There was gold in the sky in front of him.
He was followed closely by Shadow who'd been sitting on Cyradis' table
before flinging her hides this way and that in his hurry to get
airborne. He stroked after the rest of the flits who seemed to flock
after the bright speck in the sky.
As they passed over the beach on their way to Dolphin Hall, a pair of
wild bronzes joined the chase blasting through the pack in their hurry
to reach the prize.
That earned one of them a sharp nip on the shoulder by an older
experienced bronze. No one but he was having this gold! The other
one found himself boxed in by two browns, one a wild one and the other
belonging to a young weyrling. They were so concerned with him that
they both found themselves in the back of the pack.
Ember twisted and turned, attempting to stay with the glowing gold. He
wanted her so badly!
He growled at the wild bronzes.
Glory's cry of victory floated across the sky as she lead both bronze
and brown a merry chase. But she was looking over her shoulder at one
of the bronze when her youth and inexperience betrayed her and she was
caught by surprise.
Ember was more experienced than the young gold and he had won flights
before, just not gold's.
While her attention was on other males, Ember got above her and
plummeted, wrapping his tail and neck with the Queen.
On the ground, N'mor was happy for him, but he was also feeling very
uncomfortable. He wondered if he could locate the gold's owner.
Shells, any willing woman would do!
Tavia fanned herself where she sat on her ledge. It had somehow seemed
to get a bit hotter even though she was out of the sun. It wasn't the
same as when Sawauth rose but it had an intensity all its own.
