K'deren

K'deren

"Wingsecond," W'lorn greeted as K'deren approached. The bluerider was
adjusting the riding straps his blue was wearing in preparation for today's
drill. His dragon, for his part, was standing very still while W'lorn made
sure the straps where fitted properly.

"Good job W'lorn. He looks ready to fly," K'deren said as he cast a
practiced eye over the blue.

"Thank you, sir." W'lorn tightened one last buckle and then gave his
dragon a slap on the shoulder. The blue relaxed from his stiff posture
and bobbed his head at the Wingsecond.

}:Tell the Wingsecond thank you from me too. And that I am always
ready to fly!:{ The bluerider passed the message along to K'deren with
a grin.

"We'd like you two to try something new today," K'deren said.

"Oh?" Both bluerider and blue dragon tilted their heads in a
remarkably similar manner. "What is it?"

"I want you to try swapping positions with S'met, and fly on the other side
of the wing, We think we need a really flexible team up there, and to know
that you can cover more than one position if you need to."

W'lorn couldn't help the smile or the proud feeling, they'd been
working very hard and it was nice to be noticed. "Really? Thanks,
sir." His dragon thrummed happily beside him as well, }:We are very
flexible and clever, W'lorn. I knew we were.:{

"Don't thank me until you've tried it, I need to know if you or your dragon
feel at all uncomfortable up there, " K'deren told him.

"Yes, sir. If we have any problems keeping up, we'll be sure to say
so." He didn't think that they'd have problems though. At least he
hoped not. The last thing he wanted was for him and his dragon to bite
off more than they could chew, so to speak.

"You can speak to me, or the Wingleader afterwards."

"Yes, sir," the bluerider said again with a crisp nod before turning
to his dragon. "Let's go get in our new spot then." The dragon and
rider moved to the other end of the formation, giving a nod in passing
to S'met who, along with his green, was on the way to take the spot
they'd just vacated.

As they lined up in their new spot and W'lorn climbed aboard, he asked
his dragon, "Are you ready?"

}:Always,:{ was the reply.
