Description: Qorri comes to check on the Weyrleader.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

Just as she would with one of her fosterlings, once the headwoman
learned the Weyrleader was hurt and was able to see visitors she
had come down with a few things hidden in her skirts. Hoping to
Faranth that he was okay, she waited her turn then quietly approached
his bed.
"Well, look. It's my favorite Headwoman." His voice was softer than
usual. Talking at a normal volume made his headache worse.
"Your only headwoman," she quipped, but Qorri was glad to see him
talking anyway. That meant he wasn't too bad off. Sitting down, she
offered him some water that the healers had left sitting there. "I see
you haven't managed to kill yourself off, after all. And here I thought
you were leaving me."
"Not yet." It made him think of Tal, the way she'd asked him not to
leave her. N'vanik took a sip, a slight tremble in his hand. "You're
stuck with me a little longer."
"That's a relief. You should know that your wingsecond and the Weyrwoman
have it together, though on the dragon end of things. The little one..she
wasn't so lucky." Pierka had been one of Qorri's candidates so she had tried
to check on her too.
"How bad is she?" It would break his heart to lose her. Every loss was
hard, but it was harder with weyrlings.
"They won't let anyone see her yet...she'll live, but it'll be a while
before she's in a fighting wing again if the mindhealers can get her straight
after she comes round." Something like that could be hard on a weyrling, without
much experience to fall back on. Blooding took its toll.
"I hope she recovers. I talked to her once. Sweet kid." He'd teased
her about having a crush on a bluerider.
"Mmmm most of them are. So, you'll heal without too much problem, though I
daresay you'll need coddling for a bit. I assume Talryne has had full
instructions from the healers?" Qorri would do anything if she was needed, but she
didn't think she would be in this case.
N'vanik rolled his eyes. "I can hardly get her to leave me alone.
She's not here now because I made her go eat something. I had her
check on Loseth a few times, too." It worked to calm both Tal and the
bronze.
"Good idea. Maybe I should find some things for her to help with until you're
out of here?" Qorri's brow raised conspiratorially.
He knew that look. "Just try to encourage her to eat regular meals and
sleep in her own bed. I won't be here long. They just want to keep an
eye on me and make sure there aren't complications from the concussion."
"Mmmm, fine. Meals it is." Food was easily done. "You've got a hard head,
I doubt there will be complications." Qorri fervently hoped so, at any rate.
"I wish my head was a little harder. Guess it's not dragon-proof." He
still didn't remember those last few seconds before Loseth caught the
green, but at least now he remembered her falling. Loseth remembered
the rest, and when the bronze forgot, N'vanik would carry the memory
for both of them.
"Well even your head isn't as hard as dragon hide. Lesson learned." Qorri
put her hand out and slipped him the few small packages she had put in her
voluminous pockets. "Keep them under the blankets or tucked under the mattress.
I better get going, though, since you probably need your rest."
"Sneaking me treats ... now I know you like me," he joked. "Thanks for
stopping by."
"Oh you're welcome Weyrleader," she smiled as she headed out, thinking
how hard it would be if the regime did change and Qorri would have to charm
some other man.
