Z'an hummed to himself as he sat in the sands, then with a soft
sigh, he lay back to absorb the sun. Ah...day of drills with his new
wing was over...Vicarth was bathed and sunning himself; it was time to
relax. He ignored the slight grittiness of the sand and tugged off his
shirt, tossing it haphazardly to the side and then lay his head on his
hands with a slight smile on his face.

He heard steps near him and barely opened an eye, intent on soaking up
the sun.

"I see you're settling in already."

"Definitely." Z'an cracked open an eye and turned his head towards the
voice. He spotted a pair of boots, then allowed his gaze to slowly travel
upwards. "Weyrleader."'

"Was it cold at your last Weyr?" N'vanik couldn't remember where the
brownrider had transferred from.

That wasn't the question he had been expecting. "Dragonsfall? Nope. Just not
as pleasant, in my opinion. It's much more....welcoming here I suppose."
He then tilted his head back to eye N'vanik. " So is this an official
interview?" He cracked a grin.

"It's a chat. I'm not much for official anything." He sat down next to
Z'an. "And if you don't think Dragonsfall is cold, you must have a
hide as thick as a dragon's."

"I was remembering the summers." Z'an yawned and crossed one ankle
over the other. He turned his head to regard N'vanik with an arched
brow. "I heard that, but wasn't exactly sure how much was rumor.
I can't much blame you, though. I've no desire to have your duties,
trust me. I'd go insane."

N'vanik laughed. "Some days I think I _have_."

Arching a brow, Z'an sat up. "So...tell me if you would. What's
our Weyrwoman like?" He waggled his brows. "Interesting at all?"

"She likes brownriders. Well _a_ brownrider at least." He wondered if
Z'an would try to flirt with her and what Cyradis' reaction might be.

"Ah...her eye on one already? Hm." Z'an shrugged it off. " Well, she can
eye more than one." He stopped and then completely turned to the
Weyrleader. "So, great Weyrleader....any advice about Dolphin Cove
you can give me? I already know the whole work hard bit. Anything
I'll need to know that I didn't at Dragonsfall?

"I like to keep things more laid back, outside of drills and Fall.
Enjoy yourself as much as you can. On the practical side, watch out
for sunburn, and make sure you're drinking enough water. The heat'll
knock you down faster than you know." Which was part of the reason he
liked to spend a lot of time in the shade.

"Are you a Healer as well?" Z'an chuckled. "I'd expect that from that
bunch." But he nodded in agreement. "But, I can see how that would be
helpful. Thank you, but that's not what I was talking about. You'll
know the majority of riders and staff here, don't you? Anything I
shouldn't do to start off on the wrong foot?"

"Make sure to stay on the Headwoman's good side," he said with a
smile. "She's easy to get along with, but if you do manage to make her
angry, you'll be sorry."

"Seems like all Headwomen are the same." Z'an chuckled. "I'll do my utmost
to keep her happy and amused. A strong point of mine, actually." He gave
a wry self-assured grin. "So, do you have any expectations of me? You do
lead my wing."

"Study our formations. I want you to catch on fast so you can be an
asset to the Wing." Rather than a liability.

"Already started that." Z'an spoke simply. "And I will be, have no
doubt of that. I've never had a complaint on that score." He suddenly
grinned. "Can't promise anything else about complaints though."

N'vanik arched an eyebrow. "What kinds of complaints should I be prepared
for?"

Feigning a look of mock indignation, Z'an stared at N'vanik. "I just got
here, give me time to actually rack some up and surprise you."

"So that's the game, huh?"

"Well, you know, got to keep the leadership on it's toes." Z'an laid his
head back on his arms and closed his eyes, but kept the grin on his
lips. "At least you won't be bored."

"Faranth forbid," N'vanik said dryly.
