Z'an

After checking with cook about the breads and meats they had on the
menu, Qorri turned to walk back through the kitchens and then outside
into the tunnels. It was dark and most of the Weyr was asleep. She relished
the quiet as she went through, following the glows until she reached
the end and came out into the Bowl. Looking up, she could see the moons and
found herself smiling.

Not all of the Weyr was asleep and a pair of dark eyes watched as
Qorri came out of the tunnels. A wide grin split Z'an's face as he
quietly crept behind the Headwoman and then bent carefully to speak near her
ear."Lovely night, isn't it?"

She didn't jump, but she did get angry. Spinning around quickly, she slapped
indiscriminately in all directions, just wanting whoever it was that had
snuck up on her to learn that was not a good thing to do. "Lovely night huh?
Forsneaking up on lone women huh? Well take that then!"

Z'an jumped back, but not in time to avoid heavy handed slaps to the chest.
He couldn't help but laugh, dancing back farther away from the woman's
hands and then holding up his own. "I surrender! I give!" His grin remained
on his face. "Have mercy!"

Qorri finally settled and brought her arms back, but her face had a
suspicious look. She stepped back, to keep him at a distance while she
looked at him."I don't know you.." It was an accusation since this was her
Weyr and she knew her riders.

Putting his hands down, Z'an tilted his head at the woman, but his smile
still twinkled in his eyes. "No, you wouldn't, since we haven't met yet. "
He flicked his fingers at the knots on his shoulders. "Z'an, rider of brown
Vicarth. Only recently arrived, but you're the first one that's actually
attacked me. Most give me at least a sevenday."

"Hmm well, you shouldn't walk up behind a woman in the middle of the night
without announcing yourself. It's rude. So where did you come from, Z'an of
brown Vicarth?" To repeat the name made it easier to remember. Qorri watched
him carefully. He was attractive, but he was too old.

"I do excel at that." Z'an chuckled. "But it _was_ rather funny, you know.
Dragonsfall, actually. " He tilted his head at her. "And you? Who might your
lovely self be?"

"I'm Qorri the Headwoman here." **Dragonsfall hm? Janani had come from
there.** He was already falling a few pegs in her estimation just from that.

"Just the woman I need to see then." He tilted his head to the side and
smiled, then winked. "Though I doubt you'll want to do me any favors right
now, hm?"

"The woman to see about what?" There were many things she could accomplish,
but Qorri had realized it was better for her not to offer first. Sometimes
she ended up having to do less that way.

"From what I hear, just about anything." Z'an kept his grin, but then just
shrugged. "I need to requisition a few things from stores for my weyr, is
all. Nothing serious or life changing."

"Mmm..that's easy enough to take care of. Come on and we'll see to it."
Sighing, she led him back inside the tunnels and to her office where the
door was opened and Qorri began to search for her lists of what was
available currently. As she searched, she asked, "What do you need?"

"Some bedding for the most part. And a blanket for Vicarth's wallow." Z'an
shifted and thought for a moment. "Maybe some extra soap sand and towels
too, if possible."

"For his wallow, do you really need a blanket or just padding for his
couch?" It was hot in Dolphin Cove so the dragons generally didn't bother
with covering. Qorri could easily arrange other padding since the Weyr didn't
have much in the way of blankets.

"You direct me in this one. I'm not used to the heat." Z'an shrugged.
"What do most riders have here for their dragons?"

"Well...let's go with the cushion bit and see how your boy likes it. And
then if he decides he wants a blanket, we'll get him one." She reached to
the wall where there was a small pulley system with bells. Pulling one, somewhere a
bell rang and it produced a drudge sometime after. Handing her a list, the
headwoman nodded for her to get those things. She smiled and nodded, disappearing.
"So, was there anything else you needed then?"

Z'an's eyes followed the drudge for a moment, a twinkle in his eyes before
turning back to Qorri. "Works for me." He leaned forward just a little and
grinned wider. "Oh...dinner with a pretty woman."

"I'd suggest you head to the dining cavern and try to find one then, rider."
Qorri didn't consider herself pretty. And she certainly didn't want to waste
her time with this male. He would never be able to keep up with her, even if
he was anywhere near the right turns.

Holding his chest in playful dismay, Z'an gave a mock sigh. "I'm wounded."
He then chuckled and inclined his head. "Well, my charm smile can't always
work, now can it? I'll take your advice and do just that."

"Welcome to Dolphin Cove," she replied sweetly, letting him know he was
dismissed. She had other things to do and the list was growing.
