Z'an

Z'an

A smooth tenor voice echoed over the shores of the Weyr's lake.
The warm beach had become Z'an's favorite place and he strummed
the small gitar in his lap, Vicarth bobbed his head in time. It was
a soft ballad, one that he had learned as an apprentice, but one that
had never failed to bring a smile to his face. Vicarth settled
further down, his eyes closed as he listened to the
familiar chords, then crooned a baritone harmony.

Shandee laughed at her green dragon's antics as Corath shifted first
one wing and then the other, successfully washing waves of water over
her rider. Shaking out her long, black hair, Shandee's tanned body
glistened from the water as she slapped the scrub brush she was using
against her green's flank, "Away with you then!" She teased, letting
her sudsy dragon sink into the water.

Clad in a rather revealing swim suit, Shandee was quite comfortable in
her own skin, as were most raised in the Weyr. When the sound of
singing and gitar playing drifted out to her, Shandee looked up the
shoreline to see an unfamiliar face. Shandee knew everyone at the
Weyr, if not through a flight weyr, then through her pure social
nature.

Traipsing up to where the man sat, Shandee placed her hands on her
shapely hips as she looked at him, "That's beautiful," she tilted her
head, "are you a harper as well, brownrider?"

Z'an had been immersed in his playing and had not been paying attention
to his surroundings, so the feminine voice startled him out of his reverie.
His hands immediately stopped and his voice trailed off as his gaze
turned to the woman in front of him. It only took a moment, and a wide
smile grew on his face as his eyes flicked over her with appreciation.
"I could say the same." His fingers suddenly slid along the gitar,
plucking an intricate little ditty as a twinkle flickered in his eyes.
"I am indeed, in my free time." He grinned. "And your lovely self
would be?"

"I am Shandee, rider of Corath," she flicked her hand over her
shoulder, "the big green splashing around in the Weyrlake." With a
shake of her head she swished her damp hair over her shoulders.
Shandee seated herself beside of the brownrider, their thighs
brushing, "And who might you be?"

"Z'an, rider of Vicarth." He gestured over his shoulder. "The one
presently eyeing your green." Vicarth snorted softly, but kept his
interested gaze towards the lake. "It's a pleasure." He flicked
his gaze over her again. "Thank Faranth for nice weather and
nice views."

Shandee gave Z'an a measuring look, "I would agree sir, but you seem
overly dressed for a trip down to the Weyrlake. Perhaps, though, my
opinion might improve if you lost some of these," she reached out and
tugged on the side of his shirt, "and joined me in the water."

His grin was cheeky as he stood, laying down his guitar carefully.
"Far be it for me not to take up a challenge." He promptly stripped
off his shirt and then offered his hand to help her up. "I do need a
good swim."

The greenrider was pleased that Z'an was proving to be very good
company. Some people, she had found, just didn't know how to have a
good time. Taking the brownrider's hand, Shandee rose to her feet,
"Well you'll be glad to know that the water is just right."

"Not so much the water that I'm interested in. " Z'an gave a wink
and tucked her hand into his arm. "Lead the way, lovely Greenrider."

Shandee smiled, flashing Z'an a row of white teeth, and sauntered
ahead of the brownrider down to be water, her fingers trailing over
the surface as she waded in up to her waist.

Quietly thanking Faranth for warm water and skimpy swim wear, Z'an
followed. The water hit at his upper thighs, but as he approached, his
eyes suddenly twinkled with mischief. He cupped a handful of water and
flung it at the greenrider, aiming for her neck.

Shandee froze at the splash of cool water that trickled down her back,
leaving a silvery thread that glistened in the sunlight down her back.
Turning around to face Z'an, the greenrider's lips lifted in a smile,
"You didn't happen to see who splashed me did you?"

Z'an's face was a picture of innocence, though his smile kept
twitching to the surface. "Tall guy. Brown eyes and hair. Maybe good
looking and from what I've heard has a great smile." He suddenly
grinned and took a step forward. "Probably thought you looked good
wet."

"Well, he is right, I do look good wet." She winked, "You let me know
if this good looking guy comes back by. I wouldn't want to miss him."
Her eyebrows lifted teasingly.

"Oh, I think he's close enough. I think the man's planning on stealing
a kiss or two. You may want to watch out." Z'an's brows waggled as he
cupped another handful of water.

Shandee's smile broke into a laugh, as she too cupped up a handful of
water, "Well, he would have to catch me first...."

Z'an tilted his head and his eyes sparkled with mischief as he
quickly lunged towards Shandee, intent on scooping her up.
"Challenge accepted!"

Shandee's squeal rang across the Weyrlake as she jumped backwards in
the water, trying to escape the brownrider's lunge.

Giving chase, Z'an slipped a bit in the water, but scrambled
back up in time for his hands to find Shandee's hips to
lift her up and over his shoulders. With a loud, playful laugh
his fingers boldly tickled along the backs of her legs."The
brownrider emerges victorious!"

The greenrider laughed, kicking her legs a bit at the tickling
fingers, but mostly Shandee was content not to struggle, not when a
handsomely muscled brownrider had her thrown over his shoulder.

"Now what will you do with your prize?" She giggled.

"Hmm..."His hands stilled, laying warmly on the backs of
her legs. "Why...I believe I must celebrate my victory." He carefully
slid her down his front, his hands settling on her hips. "Since
I caught the errant greenrider, I do believe my reward is that
kiss, isn't it?"

Shandee flashed him her smile, "Yes I think you're right." She leaned
against his toned body appreciatively, after all, not every
dragonrider was in as good a shape as Z'an.

Z'an wasted no time in claiming his prize, one hand slipping up to
wind in Shandee's hair lightly while the other lay lightly on her
back to hold her close. While the kiss was far from chaste, Z'an
didn't press his luck too far, keeping it playful. He then pulled
away, his brown eyes warm as he spoke against her mouth.
"I think I like that reward."

Adrenaline coursed through Shandee's veins, a delicious fuel to the
fire in the pit of her stomach, "Hm, I think I do too." She agreed,
running her fingers down his arm.

His skin prickled under her touch. "So, Shandee...what would
I have to do to get a bigger reward?"

Shandee grinned as she looked up at him, "Carry me."

Immediately complying, Z'an's gaze heated. "Just tell me where."
