Description: D'hol makes decisions about the wing
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 5 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Eleada, R'mer, N'tor, Cosani, A'rie, Aishara
Dismissing the wing from the drills, D'hol pushed back
his sweaty hair from his brow. He'd had enough time to
start to get to know his wing and how they worked
together, but also enough to examine each for possible
promotion and he'd made his decision.
Striding towards K'deren, he spoke. "K'deren, a word
please before you get cleaned up."
"Of course," came the reply. K'deren had at least had time to remove his
helmet, and undo his leather. "May I ask what it is about, Sir?"
D'hol nodded. "It's about the wing, actually. I've had time to watch
you and others in the wing and I have to say that I'm impressed
with everyone. You all work very hard, especially you." Considering
K'deren for a moment, D'hol lifted his lips slightly. "I'd like to keep
you on as wingsecond, if you are still willing to keep the responsibility."
"I would," came the reply with no hesitation. "We've become a team, and
built up trust over the turns. I'm glad it shows."
"It does, and especially with a new wingleader coming in." D'hol ran a hand
through his hair to settled it from his brow. "Now as for Wingthird, I'd
like to leave that to you. They'll be more of your assistant than mine, and
I
trust your judgement. I'm not certain about Eleada."
Privately K'deren felt the same, but he'd not yet found a replacement he
thought had the potential yet. "I'll keep my eye open. There are plenty of
up and coming blue and greenriders who'd jump at the chance, it's finding
the right person to handle the responsibility."
"I would prefer someone with experience, but I'll allow that to be
your decision, K'deren." D'hol continued with a furrowed brow.
"We'll be getting in some senior Weyrlings who have completed
their training soon. I'll be relying on you to help me integrate them
into the wing and up to speed on how we work."
K'deren nodded. "I usually find that buddying them with an experienced rider
for the first few sevendays is a great help."
"I've done that in the past and you're right, it does help. Can you think
of any of our riders who would do the best at mentoring the Weyrlings?
Personally I think R'mer and N'tor would be best, but not Cosani..."
"I'd suggest A'rie if any of them have potential as search riders, or
Aishara otherwise."
D'hol nodded in response. "I'll look into that." He glanced over at
K'deren. "Go ahead and get cleaned up. Shards, we both need it
right now. Tomorrow, I'd you and I to go over the records of our
new wingmates."
"Sir," K'deren said with a nod.
