Description: Mayla welcomes Y'sani to the Weyr
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 12 of Turn 3

With so many new riders pouring into Dolphin Cove Weyr, Mayla was having quite a time trying to welcome them all. She had been working on inventory in a storeroom when she realised that she was yet to properly meet with Y'sani, the new Weyrling master. She promptly completed the shelf she was working on, then headed in search of the bonzerider.

He was in his office, studying the notes left by the previous Weyrlingmaster's on the weyrlings. It was clear though that he was ready for a break, though, by the grateful way he looked up. "Mayla, isn't it? Come in and have a seat, please!"

"I'm sorry that I haven't had the opportunity to meet with you yet," the Headwoman apologized as she took the offered seat, "but I figured that its better to do so late, than not at all."

Y'sani rose and found a discarded wineskin from his lunch. "Well, I wish I had more to offer you... but I'm afraid I've been cooped up in here most of the day."

"Its okay," Mayla assured the new Weyrlingmaster, "I just wanted to stop by and make sure that you have everything you need so far."

"Everyone's been very helpful," Y'sani replied with a smile, settling back into his chair. "Though there's more hidework left to deal with than I like.
I don't suppose you've got a few Wingseconds tucked away in one of your storerooms."

"Nope," Mayla said grinning, "but the Weyrleader may. He's done a good job filling up the wings so far. I'm sure that he will come up with someone soon."

"Well, I may find one of my own then. Though in the meantime, I suppose I _could_ use more shelves to stack all of these files on! If I don't get them off my desk, I'm going to go crazy."

"I'll see if I can't find a carpenter to come and install some this afternoon then," Mayla said, producing a small piece of parchment, "My 'to do' list," she explained, turning the piece over trying to find a spare corner to write on, "I'm having a hard time keeping track of everything unless I keep notes. I hope that it is just stress talking, but I am afraid its because I am getting old."

Y'sani shook his head. "You don't need to be old to start forgetting things when you have as many responsibilities as we do."

"I hope thats all it is," Mayla said, half-joking, "a Headwoman with no memory can be pretty useless."

"I'm sure that's all it is," Y'sani replied confidently. "If you've got too much to handle, don't worry too much about my shelves. I need to find myself a harper to help me organize before I'll need them in any case. I plan to visit the Harper Hallmaster sometime in the next few days and see if he can help me."

"No, no, no. It's not a problem at all," Mayla protested, "it will be done by the end of the day. I promise."

"Thank you, Mayla. I appreciate it a great deal."

"I'm sorry but I've got to run," Mayla suddenly realized the time, "I am supposed to meet with a new candidate. It was nice meeting you Y'sani. We've got to take the time to have a prober discussion sometime. Perhaps when things settledown a bit."
