Description: The weyrlings tour the available weyrs with the headwoman.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 1 of Turn 7
Malyna gathered at the meeting place. She was near to bursting with
excitement. Today they were touring the available weyrs and would get
to choose one of their _very_ own. She looked over her shoulder to see
if any of the other weyrlings were approaching. She waved to a few who
hurried up to join her.
The headwoman was sitting down, holding her list. This wouldn't take too
much time but it was a necessary duty and she understood the significance
to the young riders. It was one of the reasons why she took care of this chore
herself.
Jeyme couldn't wait for the opportunity to pick her own weyr. It
wasn't that she minded horribly having to share the space in the
Weyrling barracks, but she relished the idea of having a place to go
to and get away from everyone else. Tucking the legs of her breeches
down into her riding boots, Jeyme pushed up from her cot, and left to
meet with the other Weyrlings who were going on the tour with Qorri.
Not far behind the others, L'cor trotted up the stairs to join the
group around the Headwoman. He hoped she'd have something with a bit
more room. Tonuth was getting so big that he was filling most of their
small section of the barracks.
Malyna waved to her friends as they arrived. She couldn't wait for the
tour to start so she could choose her weyr. When she glanced up, she
saw D'naz approaching.
"Qorri," he greeted the Headwoman. "Just wanted to check in and see if
you needed anything. All my weyrlings," here he gestured and looked
towards the group, "know their manners, so if you have any trouble
with any of them, you just let me know." He gave her a little wink
that only she could see. He wouldn't be staying to tour with them, he
had just stopped by to make sure all were in attendance.
"Most of them were my candidates before they were your weyrlings so I'm
sure we won't have any problems." She consulted her list. "Allright, we're going
to start from the top and work our way to the bottom. We have some of the older
weyrlings willing to help us get around waiting. So hop aboard and away we go!"

When they reached the first weyr, it was clearly made for a green dragon, having
a smaller weyr area. Like most of the weyrs in Dolphin Cove, it had
been hastily constructed
and didn't have many creature comforts. There was a good view, though.
"Allright,
does this one tickle anyone's fancy? Have a look around."
Malyna looked around, touching different parts of the walls and the weyr.
"This is a perfect size for Cayleryth," she stated aloud. "I like the
view for sure. We'd be very happy here." She turned to Qorri with a
smile. Malyna didn't mind any particular weyr at all, she was just so
excited to get her very own place to call home with Cayleryth.
"Very well Malyna has claimed this one." She scribbled a note down on
her list. "Some things to think about-size, access, and height. During
a hurricane, being in a higher weyr can sometimes be a problem. And we
have them during season." Qorri hoped everyone understood that as
weyrlings they didn't get to choose the premium weyrs.
Jeyme stood back with the other Weyrlings while Malyna had sized up
the weyr before claiming it as her own. It was a nice, cozy place, and
Jeyme was sure that she and Quinneth would have been fine there as
well. She really didn't have much preference when it came to a weyr,
oh sure, everyone dreamed of some spacious weyr with their own bathing
area and a large ledge for their dragon, but Jeyme was a realist, as
usual. Having spent Turns with only a small bedroom to call her own,
and sometimes having to share even that, the greenrider was just
pleased at the idea of having a space to call her own and looked
forward to viewing the next weyr on the list.
L'cor had returned to lean against the wall near the door after
walking out to the couch he'd dismissed this one as unsuitable. There
was no way his Tonuth would be comfortable in the space available for
more than a few minutes. Though he did have to admit the view was
awfully nice.
When the Headwoman indicated the weyr was hers, Malyna nearly gave a
shout for joy. She loved the view and couldn't wait to bring Cayleryth
up here to show her their new home.
They all took a quick ride to another weyr. This one was farther down-midlevel-
and was a bit larger than the last. It was clear this weyr was for a
larger dragon
though it lacked the finishing touches that the ranking riders received in their
weyrs. Qorri stepped inside and let them look around again, watching
and waiting.
This one had just come open from an older rider who had finally passed on.
L'cor brightened when he paced off the size of the weyr's dragon's
couch. "Oh this is nice," he smiled and nodded at the headwoman. The
view wasn't as nice but it was actually a pretty good location. The
living space was a bit larger than the others though not as nice as
some but that would come later if he worked hard.
Malyna followed behind, happy with her own choice. The weyr they were
in now was big. Much bigger than she and Cayleryth would need. She
smiled to L'cor when he spoke. This weyr would be perfect for him and
Tonuth. She glanced at the others who had yet to choose.
"Aye it is. Is it good enough to live in?" She was thinking he'd
better say yes cause
there weren't any better choices open at the moment. Qorri ticked off
a box on her list.
"Oh yes," said L'cor with a smile. "Tonuth will like it here."
"Good then. That's settled. Weyrling Jeyme, do you have any particular needs
before we go onto the next that I should know about?" Of course Qorri
didn't think so, but she decided it was better to ask.
"No ma'am," Jeyme had liked the weyr but felt it was too large for
just her and her green, "Quinneth and I will be happy anywhere." And
that was said truthfully. As long as she could be with her lifemate in
a space of their own she was satisfied.
Making their way over to the other side of the Weyr, they ended up in a
smaller weyr that didn't have the greatest view but where it was situated,
there was more shade which meant it wasn't as hot. That was quite important.
"Thank you Headwoman Qorri," Jeyme smiled as she looked around the
quaint weyr, "it will do just fine." She sent images of the weyr to
Quinneth, and she felt the green flutter with excitement.
