Description: F'aen and Scarleth's maiden flight.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 15 of Turn 7
F'aen knew, he just knew, that Scarleth was going to rise. He was an
easy going guy, always had been, but he'd already pissed off one of
his wingmates, raised his voice at a drudge, and thrown his riding
helmet... all in one morning. If Scarleth didn't rise soon the grumpy
greenrider was worried about what he might do next. He hated the
irrational way he felt inside, especially knowing that the slightest
thing could send his emotions spiraling out of control.
As it was, the greenrider had decided to pace back and forth in front
of the flight weyrs.
}:Your wait is over!:{ Scarleth hissed at him. She had fed that
morning and so she screeched her warning to the males of the Weyr
before leaping from her ledge into the sky.
Falzeth screamed his acceptance of the challenge and D'arvn dropped
his meatroll back into his plate. He was down the corridor and
trotting toward the flight rooms before he knew it.
Vicarth lunged from his weyr without warning to give chase to
the darting green. Z'an, in the dining hall nearly choked on his
food from the sudden surge of passionate response. "Shards..."
He shook his head with a smile, hurriedly put down his food and then
rushed towards the flight room.
Not to be outdone, Garreth joined the growing crowd of males following
in the sky. This was his first official chase and he *was* going to
win it. The sudden jolt of desire was a complete surprise to Z'hren,
even though they'd been taught of how strong the feelings could be. A
flash of which green was rising came back through his brown's eyes and
he cringed slightly. F'aen wasn't someone he knew well and was afraid
he may learn a bit too much about the greenrider. But only Scarleth
could make that choice. He passed his tray to the drudge and followed
a few of the riders to the flight room.
Keluth bugled his own acceptance of the challenge. D'naz, taken back,
stared at the young weyrling he'd been talking to just moments before
as the sense of urgency and desire rushed through him as well.
Excusing himself as quickly as possible, D'naz joined the others who
were moving toward the flight room. In his mind's eye he saw who was
rising and couldn't help but smile. He liked the younger greenrider
and wasn't surprised that Keluth was joining the Flight.
Rahmuth announced his intention to win with loud bugle and took his
place among the others.
Sh'dori took a one look of the green's rider and shook his head
ruefully. He was so young! What it was in maiden flights that drew in
Rahmuth? In truth, the brown did tend to chase everyone, if Sh'dori
didnt' stop him.
** Show off," ** N'mor chided Kedvencth, when the bronze tried to
impress the lovely green with his gleaming hide and strong muscles.
N'mor was all that euthiastic about this Flight.
Scarleth fairly purred in pleasure at the amount of males that
followed her into the sky. And why wouldn't they? She was a beautiful
green that any male should desire! She trumpeted at the males behind
her as she darted into the low cloud coverage above, the moisture from
the clouds leaving her hide sparkling in the sunlight.
Falzeth chased the lovely green trying to stay as close to her as he
could. He knew she was young and if she made any mistakes he wanted to
be right there to entangle her.
Rahmuth relied on his experience, following her flight pattern,
observing and waiting.
Ked wasn't that patient, he called out his admiration, tried to
impress her. Now, who green didn't want a handsome, young bronze?
Pushing himself forward, Vicarth locked eyes on Scarleth with eager,
purple tinged eyes. He didn't dive to follow her, but kept pace above,
waiting for her to fly higher once again. His large bulk didn't lend
itself to acrobatics, but he'd experience with green flights. They may
dive, but they always came back up. Still, he kept close, bugling his
admiration for her sparkling hide. Below, Z'an stood in the loose
semi-circle, his gaze, like his brown's, locked on the young green
rider in front of him.
Scarleth crooned in pleasure at the dragons that followed her down
into the cloud coverage, but she couldn't stay there forever, not when
she was already tiring and they were gaining on her. Without the
stamina and strength of a gold, the green's flight would be short and
sweet, but she wasn't finished yet! Spreading her wings to their
fullest, she shot herself skyward, rocketing up, away from the clouds
and into the bright sunlight.
F'aen swayed on the ground from the sudden change in direction, but
his mind soared with Scarleth, the thrill of flying leaving his body
trembling.
Rahmuth followed, keeping a steady pace, knowing she would tire.
Keluth had bounded after the others, taking to the sky. He knew he
wouldn't have the stamina to maintain the flight as long as some of
the browns and bronzes, so he had to use his stealth to try and
capture his prize. His eyes glimpsed her sparkling green hide and he
trumpeted his desire for her, even as he pumped his wings to keep up
with the other chasers.
As he got close he tried to catch her, but she was too fast for the
blue, switching directions and heading up, up, up. Keluth pumped his
wings harder, noting that she was beginning to slow. }:I desire you,
my sparkling gem.:{ He crooned to her as his own wings began to feel
heavier with the effort of the chase.
The moment she shot upwards, Vicarth knew that his waiting hadn't been
in vain. Like a shot, he trailed the little green, his wings pumping
furiously and then catching a pocket of air to glide for a moment. She
simply needed to get a little closer.
Below, Z'an watched the green rider with hazy eyes, a smile growing on
his face. Perhaps he would win this flight...
Falzeth shot upwards close behind the fleet green and he began to feel
his wings tire. she had to be close to her end and if he could stay
with her he just might... D'arvin swayed closer to F'aen in the press
around the attractive greenrider.
Scarleth's breaths were beginning to come in shuddering gasps, the
strokes of her wings no longer so smooth and energized. There were so
many possibilities, but the green could feel her rider's preference
bleeding through their mental link. The green bugled in surprise when
Falzeth came speeding towards her, causing her to careen sideways, and
entangle herself with Keluth.
Vicarth swung away and moved to dive into the lake to cool down his
mating urges. Z'an have a groaning exhalation and moved away from the
new pair. He needed a cool dip in the lake as well.
The blue had been straining to reach the dazzling green in the air.
He'd made up some ground on her lead, but the others were fast on her
tail as well. His own wings were straining with the effort as he
neared her. She seemed to turn away from him, but then, in seconds,
she was there. Keluth wrapped his own wings about her. Two becoming
one in midair in a dance that stretched back Turns before either was
ever hatched.
On the ground, D'naz, his own body hot and heavy with the passion he'd
felt from Keluth, had edged ever closer to the younger greenrider.
When the moment came and their dragons joined in the air, D'naz
reached out for F'aen, taking him into his arms to complete the
journey their dragons had begun.
Z'hren stumbled away, half glad that Garreth didn't win. He felt
neither of them were ready for this. Garreth wasn't as happy but some
time in the lake would fix that.
D'arvn felt his lifemate's disappointment as he'd been so very close
that time. He turned away to go find his weyrmate who he knew would be
waiting for him with open arms.
Sh'dori blinked his eyes and shook himself when the bond to Rahmuth
closed down. He could still feel his dragon's disappointment and the
lingering dragon lust.
F'aen gasped as the full weight of Scarleth's lust over took him, his
arms going around D'naz as the two men stumbled back into the flight
weyr and onto the bed....
