Father had sent her to the main healer's rooms to see if they had any supplies the dragonhealers could use until their stock was replenished. The last Threadfall had been rough and they were low on so much. The dragonhealers were working to make new bandages, new redwort, and new numbweed, but it would take time. The dragons that were hurt needed more before the new supplies would be ready.

The Healer rooms were fuller than normal as well. **Typical after a Fall,** she mused, moving around a few empty cots on her way in.

She moved up to one man who was standing beside the now empty cots.

"Hello Lokkun," Gelira greeted. "How did you fare during the Fall?" She was, of course, referring to the Healers themselves, and not Lokkun himself.

By this time, Lokkun was moving without thought, stripping linens, putting them in a cart, and putting new sheets on the empty cots. Even as a senior apprentice, easily half of his time was spend with mundane chores. That was okay, though. It was the way of things, and he didn't mind. The monotony gave his brain a chance to idle and recover from the day, especially a Threadfall day. Those still made his heart ache, but thankfully not as badly as it used to.

There was a disadvantage to letting his mind wander, though. It gave people the chance to come up to him undetected. At Gelira's words, Lokkun jumped, dropping a sheet as a short "GYAA!" burst from him. Catching his breath, the young man half turned to see who had addressed him. "Oh, Gelira," he said, shoulders relaxing as he offered her a shy smile. "Hello. We did as well as can be expected, I believe. I wasn't on the front lines, so to speak, but that is how it seems to be. Can I help you with something?"

She jumped when he jumped. Then her face broke into an amused smile. "Perhaps I should help you first?" She said, bending down to pick up the sheet that he had dropped in his surprise.

"Actually, father sent me to see if there were any extra supplies the dragonhealers could use today? We were inundated with injuries and are nearly out of bandages, redwort, and numbweed. It was quite a nasty Threadfall. We're starting new batches of everything, but they won't be ready in time to help those who need it today." She knew supplies were important to both groups during Threadfall. Normally the dragonhealers had plenty after a Fall, but things had been crazier than she could remember for quite some time.

"Oh, certainly," Lokkun said, taking the sheet back and placing it in the cart. It had been clean, but dropping it on the floor automatically disqualified it from being put on a cot. "I'm sure that won't be a problem." He pushed the cart between two of the cots, dusted off his hands, and motioned for the young woman to follow him to the storage room. Sure. there were pots, boxes, baskets, and even some glass bowls of supplies positioned strategically around the healers' workspaces for easy access, but larger amounts were kept back in the cool, dry storage.

"Thanks Lokkun," Gelira replied, following him through the front towards the back storage room. Her eyes examined the various tubs and jars kept back there. Pointing to a few, she noted, "Looks like you've got quite a bit of numbweed. How about if we take that one large tub there and then some of the redwort there." She pointed around the room. "We can make up a list and I will personally see that the dragonhealers replenish the stock we borrow so your healers don't run short."

Another shy smile from the blond. "You're welcome," he said, and mentally called out. His little blue fire-lizard Pegas immediately popped into sight, and Lokkun held up his arm. Pegas twittered at him, and Lokkun tickled under his chin. "Thank you. Can you get me a slate and chalk?" he asked, reinforcing the order with images. The blue chirped and jumped up, vanishing. "I really should have some in my pocket," he said, motioning to the apron, "but I forgot."

Pegas reappeared, carrying the slate in all four paws and the chalk in his mouth. ~nasty~ he projected, and his person quickly took the chalk first before accepting the slate.

Gelira smiled at the little blue fire-lizard. She hadn't thought to call her own for such a thing. Buddy preferred spending his time with the dragons in the dragonhealers rooms most of the time.

"Perfect idea. Let's record what we're borrowing. I wouldn't want the other Healers upset with you. I know father already has some of our healers working overtime to get new supplies, so it shouldn't be long before we can return them to you."

"Upset with me for giving supplies where needed?" Lokkun asked, thin eyebrows lifting. "Well, I guess it could happen if I were too generous," he admitted, checking to see if the chalk had a point. "Okay, so you need that big tub of numbweed, and the redwort; that's five jars right there. Would you like all of them?"

"Yes, the dragons use a lot of the stuff, you know?" She grinned at that little comment. "How about bandages? Larger the better, of course."

"Of course," Lokkun agreed, made a note of where the redwort jars were and that Gelira would like all of them, and then walked toward where bandages and other linens were kept, counting aisles until he found the right one. The largest bandages were used to wrap stomachs, torsos, and shoulders, and there were several rolls. "Will these do?"

"Those will be perfect. Thank you Lokkun." She knew that completed the list of needs the dragonhealers had. "That should do it too." She knew they would get some other apprentices and such to deliver the supplies. "You've no idea how glad we are that you had the supplies still. It will make the next few days much easier for us."

The blond gave her another shy smile. "You're welcome," he said, and made more notations on the slate. "Okay, if that's everything, I can go get a push-cart and load everything up for you." He had a feeling there might be more, but this looked like a good start.

"Let's start there. Those were the things I was sent to get. I can help you load them up," she offered with a smile. She didn't want to take too much of his time away from his own duties.

"Thank you. I appreciate that," Lokkun said, and walked off quickly. While on the hunt for a push-cart, he sent Pegas with the slate to his master after also writing down the situation. He returned with the cart, and started loading it up. "Good, I got one just the right size."

Gelira smiled and started to help Lokkun move some of the items into the cart. The heavier items took both of them to lift, but after a short while, they had transferred all the jars and bandages to the push-cart and it was ready to go. It was heavy.

"I can get someone for the dragonhealers to help me move it if you need to get back to your duties?" She said, knowing she couldn't move it on her own.

The boy had to stop and think what she meant for a minute. "Oh!" He gave a self-conscious laugh. "That's right. I had cots to make up. I'm glad you thought of that." He sure hadn't. "Yes, that might be the better idea. I can send Pegas with another message if you like."

She grinned at his confusion. "Yes, why don't you do that. Send him to the dragonhealers and let them know I need some extra hands to help me move the cart. That would be great Lokkun." Gelira was glad that his firelizard was around. Hers was far too busy playing with the dragons who were recovering.

"Will do." Lokkun called Pegas back, scrawled one more message, and sent him off again. "I'm sorry you all had a rough time of it out there, but it was good to see you again. You look like you've been doing well."

"Thanks Lokkun. It was good to see you too," Gelira replied. When the others from the dragonhealers came, she helped them pull the cart with the supplies.
