Qorri stopped for a moment and rubbed her cheeks before drinking down a glass of water.
It was hot, no doubt about it. She sincerely hoped it would rain, but things probably wouldn't
cooperate. Leaning back in her seat, the first thought that entered her mind was Meledei.
So much had happened lately. The first had been the Flight. Qorri hadn't spoken to her since,
but she knew the Weyrleaders were concerned with the fact that such a young bronze had caught.

**At least it was bronze** Though, of course, this was not an ideal outcome. And she couldn't
help but remember her talk with R'enh recently. The Wingsecond had not gone back to charm the
young goldrider and now the Weyr would reap the consequences. She sighed, disgusted with the
whole thing. **I bet he feels stupid right about now**

Turning over to grab a hide that was falling, her mind traveled again. Of course, after the Flight,
the whole Weyr had been mentioning just how close Meledei was with T'nom. Qorri knew it wasn't
her business, but Z'ku would have been better for the girl and he had been pressing his suit, she
knew. Still, Meledei had went for the younger rider. Shaking her head, she wished she could take
the youth out of the girl.

**She's just a girl. She has to make her mistakes. It's just hard because sometimes they affect the
entire Weyr.** Still, in the end Qorri would protect her and try to guide her if she could. At least now
Meledei had Cyradis to do some of that. Maybe the Weyrwoman would be able to talk with her about
what this choice meant. But it had been Elleth's, though, hadn't it?

**You know that the goldrider's choice can influence the dragon as well as anyone** And that made
her wonder. Cyradis was with a brownrider. Could the Weyrwoman find herself in bed with him after
the next Flight, leaving the Weyr with less eggs in a Pass? Was she being the example that Meledei
needed?

Dolphin Cove always had problems but a stable Weyrleader had not been one of them since N'vanik
had come and Qorri didn't know what she'd do if he were taken from her. Groaning under the weight
of that possibility, she drank another drink of water. **Don't let it come to pass.**

Still, it wasn't her place to question Weyrleaders, Weyrwomen, and goldriders. She wasn't a rider, right?
R'enh had told her that. He thought he knew more than her. Well, now look at what had happened! Her
prediction had come true. And there she was, left to pick up the pieces when all was said and done. It
was Qorri who cleaned out the weyrs when they died. It was Qorri who made sure they were fed when
they were laid up in the infirmary. She made sure all the Aunties and Uncles were fed, clothed, and cared
for. The headwoman put the dragonless to work and tried to give them something to focus on.

**Talryne...I need to see that girl.** Realizing she had spent way too much time wondering about it all,
she went back to her hides, making a note to see Talryne soon.
