Drip, drip, drip

Writers: Chelle, Jelena
Date Posted: 25th August 2013

Characters: Naevyn, Qorri
Description: Naevyn goes to see the headwoman about a leak.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 5 of Turn 7

Naevyn was fidgeting in front of the Headwoman's office nervously. She
really didn't want to burden someone so important with her little
grievance, but she really didn't know who else to ask and things were
slowly getting worse. It had started with a small leak, but with
yesterday's storm Eslith's ledge had turned into a swimming pool. She took
a breath and knocked, for Eslith.

"Come in," came the easy call even as Qorri finished filing away some lists
that she had finished with.

Naevyn shuffled in. "Ma'am?" she asked, glancing up briefly and offering a
weak smile in greeting before looking back at her hands. "Do you have a
moment perhaps?"

"Sure what do you need?" Her eyes came up and she connected with Naevyn,
wondering what it was the greenrider needed.

"Um, Eslith's ledge," she hesitated, still looking at her hands. "There's a
leak and it filled with water. I was hoping maybe you can spare someone to
take a look, Ma'am?"

"And the water didn't just go off the side of the ledge?" Qorri was trying
to picture this as she got up. She'd probably need a smith's help, but
maybe not.
Signaling for Naevyn to lead her to wherever it was, she grabbed a skin of
water.

"Some of it, I'm sure, but not this much," Naevyn replied in that soft
voice of hers. At the signal, she shot up and made way for the door,
feeling flustered. She hadn't meant for the Headwoman herself to come and
check it out!

When they reached the weyr, Qorri walked out there and heard the
drip-drip-drip. Looking up, it was easy to see where the water was coming
from at least. Looking down, she noticed the water running off was making
the ledge slick and that was no good at all. "Well, you have two choices
Naevyn. We can move you to another weyr or you can wait until I can get it
fixed."

Naevyn was still feeling a bit uncomfortable, but she pulled herself
together for Eslith's sake. The green didn't deserve a pool for a wallow.
"Do you have any idea how long it would take to get fixed?"

"Well since it is stone, it's going to involve a mason. And they're going
to have to do some chipping and plugging and then the plug has to dry and
that's if the weather's good." She wanted to be honest. "So probably at
least a few days depending on how easy it is for them to reach the leak."

"Ah," Naevyn bit her lip nervously. That wouldn't do, would it? She sighed
softly, gathering her courage before speaking. "Could we maybe temporarily
be assigned a new weyr, until the leak is fixed? I wouldn't want Eslith to
be sleeping in the water."

"That we can do. Just gather up whatever few things you'll need for the
next few days. I'll go see the mason." Qorri wiped her hands on her skirt,
remembering where this was.

"Alright," Naevyn nodded slowly, immediately considering what she would be
needing. "Um, should I come with you right now, Ma'am? Or come back later
when you've had a chance to locate an empty weyr for me?"

"Let's go and figure out where you'll be now and then you can come back and
pack." Qorri thought that would be the easiest thing.

"Oh, that works," Naevyn nodded, moving back into the hallway in silence
and waiting for the Headwoman to take the lead.
