I'll Come Back to You

Writers: Devin, Clancey
Date Posted: 26th January 2006

Characters: Dysali, D'ren
Description: Dysali comes to D'ren after Lillyth's first flight.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 6 of Turn 3

D'ren led Dysali to the couch and helped her sit down. "I'm sorry Dysali.
Menanth is still too young to chase. I wish we could have been there for you."
The bronze crooned to emphasize his rider's words.

Dysali shrank in on herself, and cradled her knees to herself. The tears had mostly stopped, but she shook from emotions. Her voice was still soft and torn. "She wanted him.. Menanth, I mean." Seemed to be all she could say for a moment, then she turned terrified eyes to him.
"I'm sorry D'ren. I keep messing everything up for us. I'll understand if you're mad at me and don't want to see me anymore." This is of course, what she thought he was going to say. Or at least tell her he wanted to see other girls.. women.. "Why would I be mad at you?" D'ren asked as he put an arm around her. "I won't say that I'm not upset, but it's nobody's fault. It was just . . .
unlucky timing."

She leaned against him, but there was still a noticeable barrier. She was so afraid! And her body was still so needy.. needing something. Her skin tingled where he touched it, and a hint of desire crept back into her eyes as she looked up at him. "I don't know what to do, D'ren..
You're all I want. All I need.." there was emphasis on the last word and now she moved closer still. "I'm here for you." D'ren laid his hand on her cheek and leaned in to kiss her.

The kiss re-ignited the remnants of the Flight that crying and heartache had so easily chased away. For a moment, a moment only, Dysali considered pulling away and finishing talking out the shadow of other lovers that had just risen between them, where nothing had been before Lillyth rose. }: I am happy. You should be happy too:{ was the sleepy half-command of her dragon. The young greenrider forgot everything then, but the bronzerider she loved and concentrated on making _him_ think he'd just been in a Flight.
Now was not the time for words, after all. Her response D'ren heated then, her hands and her lips suddenly more demanding than she'd ever been with him. She whispered softly against his ear, "I need you, D'ren.."

D'ren reacted to her intensity, pulling her closer. He lifted her up, with an ease that still surprised him, and carried her toward his bed. The feeling that he had failed her hovered over him, and he tried to chase it away with the thought that he could give her what she needed _now_. Nothing else mattered.

Nothing else did matter as he carried her to his bed. She was not very tall, but she was not a slender little thing either. When he set her down, she reached for him hungrily. He was all she wanted. All she'd _ever_ wanted. She kissed him then with the passion from Lillyth's flight, sharing it willingly, eagerly, her lips still swollen with unhindered desire and her hands all over him, shedding them both of their clothes as fast as possible.

"Wow," was all D'ren could manage. He moved so he could lay beside Dysali, and tried to recover his breath. If that had been the after effects of a flight, what would the flight itself be like? There was a little pang of sadness when he thought again of how he had missed her first flight, but it was distant. }:You are happy, and I am happy,:{ Menanth said. }: I am glad you don't hurt any more.:{ Dysali curled into his side, feeling more content than she had since Lillyth rose. "Wow back.." she smiled up at him, her eyes still have closed with sated passion. "Thank you for wanting me, D'ren.. even though I messed up again.. " she kissed his bare chest. "I love you."
She whispered it, soft and barely heard.

"You didn't mess up." D'ren traced the line of her jaw with his finger.
"Don't blame yourself for things that aren't your fault."

She sighed softly but nodded, turning into his touch. "When he wanted me to stay, I left.. I don't want to share this with anyone but you. But I also know someday very soon Menanth will be old enough to chase.. and I'm scared." She finally said it. Everyone said it was impossible and pointless to stay faithful in a Weyr...but she only _wanted_ D'ren.
Neither B'ram nor I'lan had made her feel this way, and she wouldn't trade that for all the men in the Weyr. "What are you scared of?" he asked.

"I'm not sure..." She frowned over it, even as she curled closer. "I don't know what I can stand.. what _we_ can stand. It's a Weyr and Menanth will catch other dragons and you will sleep with other women.
But what do we want? All I want is you." "And all I want is you," D'ren assured her. "I'll do what I need to for Menanth, and then I'll come back to you. Just like you came back to me."

She nodded, having trouble with words. Finally she said softly, "I hope that is enough for us both.." But then, it would have to be, wouldn't it?
