Description: Meledei and Qorri have a chat about her current friendships or lack thereof.

Meledei flopped down in a chair across from the headwoman and smiled.
Usually she dined with T'nom, but he was taking some time with Pierka,
which was fine. The greenrider was carrying his child after all. Since
she hadn't talked to Qorri or dined with her in a while, Meledei chose
to do so then. "Hey."
"Well hey yourself. You look better. Did someone eat the sweetpies I sent
hm?" One of her brows went up a few notches before settling back down.
Qorri continued to move around some of her food, adding spices to get it
how she wanted.
"There's one left." Meledei grinned and tugged a piece off of her
bread. "I didn't want to eat them all at once. As lovely as they are,
there is too much of a good thing."
"My life is proof that there isn't my dear." She didn't argue though. Meledei
was much trimmer than Qorri would ever be so perhaps she had the right
idea. "So what has my favorite goldrider gotten herself into these days?"
"Ssshhh, don't let anyone else hear you say that!" Meledei giggled.
"Oh, just the same old same old. Drills, wash the dragon, spend time
with T'nom, eat, sleep, spend time with friends, that sort of thing."
And not necessarily in that order.
"T'nom eh? So how are things going with that?" He hadn't been Qorri's
choice for Meledei-not by a long shot. Still, she had made her choice with
the naiveté of youth. Time would tell how it would come out.
"Not bad. We spend as much time together as we can between drills and
his baby." Not her baby, but Meledei knew that's how things worked in a
Weyr. At least he was willing to take responsibility for the child.
"Ah his baby-well bully for him." Not so bully for Pierka, though that was also
for those two to sort out. Qorri couldn't make a runner drink. Some days she
couldn't even lead them to water when they were so hardheaded. "What sort
of friends are you spending time with these days?"
"Don't act like that. I'm glad he's doing that. A baby needs his or
her father." Meledei wrinkled her nose, then shrugged. "Oh I've been
hanging out with various people." Not Z'ku, as he no longer considered
her his friend. Not Pierka as she hated her guts. But Meledei wasn't
without friends, even if she was hurt by those who had been once. "And
I'm hanging out with you now."
"Various people?" She didn't push though she hoped Meledei would realize
people had been pushing away from her and maybe she should consider why.
"Maybe they do. I've never had babies so I can't tell you what they need."
"Well yeah, friends." Who did she think she meant? Meledei grinned as
Qorri changed the subject. "Well, I haven't either, but I don't know
what I would have done without my mom and dad. Especially my dad."
"Well maybe you can be a nice auntie or something for the baby if you want
and Pierka wants. As for now, though, you need to eat some more rolls. You
look as if you've ran off your entire backend." Qorri was all for making sure her
riders weren't too thin.
"I eat plenty!" Meledei laughed, but she plucked a roll and popped a piece into her mouth.
