T'nom and Taldeth landed with a whoosh.
**We need to be better than that, my friend,** T'nom said with a sigh
as he dismounted. He felt as though he'd been distracted again during
drills today and he knew he couldn't afford that or someone would be
hurt or worse.
}:You were dwelling on things again.:{ Taldeth said reproachfully. The
bronze had taken some control during the drills, but without T'nom's
full attention things had not been as good as they should have been.
**I know. I _am_ sorry Taldeth. I will get things under control
again.** T'nom hadn't been as distracted lately, now that things
between he and Meledei and he and Pierka seemed to both be on the
right track. Yet, today, he found his mind wandering quite a lot.
**Can you ask Taldeth's to come over and have a quick word please?** K'deren
asked of Donneth, the youngster seemed preoccupied.
Having received the summons, T'nom straightened his back and headed
over to the Wingsecond. He could feel his heart beat just a bit
faster. He was _sure_ K'deren was going to reprimand him for his awful
performance today.
"Okay T'nom. It's clear there is something on your mind, isn't there."
K'deren came straight out with it.
T'nom had known it was coming. He took a breath and steadied his spine
to prepare for whatever reprimands he might receive.
"I'm sorry, sir. I _have_ had alot going on lately. I've been trying
to keep it from distrupting my duties. I promise I will get it under
control."
"Is there anyone you can talk to about it?" K'deren asked gently.
T'nom thought that over and shrugged. "I'm not sure really. I mean the
people I used to go and talk to things about are the people who seem
to be causing the distractions I've been feeling." He thought of some
of the other riders and realized the only one he'd even started to get
closer too was Z'ku and he clearly couldn't go talk to him about this.
"I don't know." He frowned. How had all this time passed and he hadn't
really made closer friends with some of the other riders?
"I'd advise you to find someone, but if you can't, know that my door is open
to any rider in my wing. No matter how delicate you might feel it is, you
can talk to me in confidence." K'deren hoped he was doing his best to assure
the younger rider that talking things out would help him. "Or the
Wingleader, I'm sure D'hol would be happy to help."
"Thank you sir. I appreciate the offer, perhaps more than you
realize." T'nom replied. He'd tried, as best he could to keep things
from his personal life from affecting the wing and hadn't wanted the
wingleaders to think less of him.
"Can I ask you a question, sir?" He waited for confirmation before
continuing.
"What would you do if you cared about more than one person deeply, but
one of them has requested that you stay exclusive to _just_ them?"
T'nom knew it was a bit of a personal question, but he needed someone
else's input to help him figure out his own path.
"You know that isn't truly possible for a rider, don't you?" K'deren said
gently. No matter what colour a dragon was, at some point their rider would
be involved in a flight and the consequences that brought. "Flights happen."
T'nom realized he should have elaborated a bit more. "Well, of course,
but what if the woman was adamant that you abstain from being with any
others outside of any Flights that may occur?" He knew he probably
should have stopped while he was ahead, but he was tired of feeling
like he was being pulled in more than one direction and hoped
K'deren's experience would lend some new insight into the matter.
"Is that what you want?"
T'nom sighed. "That's the problem. I want _the girl_, and have dreamed
of this for some time, but then I found myself caring deeply for
another at the same time, and I want her too, but differently, yet the
same," he breathed out a frustrated breath. "See, that's my dilemma. I
want it all and I can't have it all."
"Then I think you need to talk to both these ladies, because it will keep
bothering you until it get sorted."
T'nom sighed, "I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to resolve much.
One of them is rather stubborn and it's her way or no way. So either I
have to do things the way she wants, which means I can't have both, or
I have to give up on ever having something with her." He frowned. "I'm
sorry, I shouldn't be bothering you with all this."
"No, this is what we are here for," K'deren assured him. "If you are having
problems that impact on how you fly, well, our job is to help you sort it
out, or get you to the person who can." He thought for a moment. "I wonder,
there are some harpers who work with healers as counselors, do you think to
would help to talk to them?"
T'nom thought about that. "I'm not sure. Maybe if they could talk to
all of us, help us sort all this out. Maybe that would help, but I'm
not sure my talking to them myself might not change much. I'm afraid
the women involved don't seem too interested in changing their minds
about certain things."
"That is something you will learn about, quite often our ladies have very
strong feelings about things, and sometimes it can be better to approach
things slowly and carefully."
"I'll keep that in mind," T'nom replied mulling over those words.
"Thank you for your time and advice." It had been good to talk it out
with someone _other_ than the women in his life. Perhaps now he would
find a way to solve the situation with some new knowledge and advice
at hand.
"You're welcome T'nom."
