Jeyme

Jeyme

~~Say something, I'm giving up on you I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you Say something, I'm giving up on you~~

Hot tears coursed down Jeyme's cheeks as she stalked away from her and
D'hol's weyr. Even if he had blurted out 'I love you' she wouldn't
have stayed. A person shouldn't have to be guilted or tricked into
admitting that they had feelings. It's not that Jeyme wanted D'hol to
say 'I love you' all the time, and she didn't even need to hear it
every day, she just wanted the admission that he _did_ love her. Was
that so much to ask?

~~And I am feeling so small It was over my head I know nothing at all~~

She didn't know who to go to or where to turn. The weyr that she had
once lived in had already been given to someone else. The only friend
she really had was Arippa and still being a Weyrling Jeyme couldn't go
traipsing off to Green Valley. Should she go to Qorri? The Headwoman
had been so very helpful and seemed to care about Jeyme's well being.

An individual popped into her mind then, although Jeyme had no idea
why. Still, she supposed that he knew of her situation better than
anyone else...

**Quinneth, how do I get to...**

~~And I will stumble and fall I'm still learning to love Just starting
to crawl~~

Jeyme knew that she was probably crazy, but her feet continued moving
on the pathway anyway. It had taken several flights of stairs to get
up to the mid-level weyrs, but walking made her feel less jittery.
When she thought about the fight with D'hol her stomach twisted and
churned. Had she messed up the best thing that had happened to her?
Should she have just kept her mouth shut and allowed D'hol to express
his feelings in his own time? Shards, she didn't want to be without
him!

**Maybe I should go back and apologize.... Maybe he'll still forgive
me if I - ** She stopped on the path, wiping her tear streaked face on
her sleeve. Her breath sounded ragged, not from the brisk pace she was
keeping, but from the soft sobs that worked their way up from her
chest.

Jeyme squeezed her eyes shut. No, no she couldn't go back. She wanted
self-respect. She wanted to be treated as an equal, not as a doormat
that would be waiting on him to come home every evening. She would not
settle for getting no place in his heart while he clung on to memories
of Cyradis. As much as Jeyme loved D'hol she knew that if she
continued living with him as she had been that one day she would wake
up to find herself resentful of him, but more importantly, resentful
of herself.

~~Say something, I'm giving up on you I'm sorry that I couldn't get to
you Anywhere I would've followed you Say something, I'm giving up on
you~~

Jeyme knocked on the door to the bluerider's weyr, her arms wrapped
around her middle, the satchel she had packed dangling from her
shoulder. She knew D'hol would not be happy that she had shown up at
this dragonrider's door but.... Well, it didn't really matter what
D'hol thought anymore, did it?

The door swung open, "Hey."

S'avn looked back at Jeyme, his eyebrows drawn together in confusion,
"Mayfeth said that you were coming." The fellow Weyrling looked at
Jeyme's tear streaked face, "Are you okay?"

Jeyme sniffled, "Can I come in?"

**I let her in to my weyr and D'hol kicks my face in.** He thought,
hesitating for a moment before moving aside to let the greenrider in.

"I'm sorry to intrude, I just..." she raised her shoulders, "I didn't
know where else to go."

S'avn was just as surprised as Jeyme, no one had ever turned to him,
of all people, for help. Closing the door to his weyr, S'avn looked
back at Jeyme and immediately noticed the bruises around her wrist,
"Are you hurt?" He frowned.

Jeyme looked down at the bruises that were forming on her wrist and
forearm. A perfect fit for D'hol's biting grip, "Uh, no." She tugged
her sleeve down, which only served to remind her of the bruises
forming on her biceps where he had grabbed her and shaken her.

The bluerider was more perceptive than Jeyme had given him credit for
as he said, "D'hol do that?"

When the greenrider looked away S'avn had his answer, "You need a
place to stay the night?" He asked.

Jeyme turned her eyes back to S'avn, tears welling up in the large
orbs, "Yes." The solitary word trembled with emotion.

"Come on, I'll change the sheets and you can have my bed, I'll sleep
on the couch."

~~And I will swallow my pride You're the one that I love And I'm
saying goodbye~~

It felt strange laying in a bed alone. She was so use to D'hol's solid
presence in the bed beside her, the heavy rhythm of his breathing a
lullaby. The bed also smelt of S'avn, not an unpleasant thing, but
different than the scent she was use to. She owed the bluerider for
his kindness, after the way he had been treated by D'hol he certainly
owed Jeyme nothing.

The pillowcase beneath her cheek was damp, and Jeyme sighed as she
flipped her pillow over. No matter how she tried the tears seemed
endless, a constant stream to mirror the turmoil of her heart. If she
could just make it through the night, Jeyme vowed to take things slow,
one day at a time until it no longer hurt to think of D'hol. She could
do it. She had to.

~~Say something, I'm giving up on you And I'm sorry that I couldn't
get to you And anywhere I would've followed you Say something, I'm
giving up on you~~
