Description: Qorri corms to check on Jeyme while D'hol is unconscious
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 14 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: D'hol, Cyradis
She'd given it a few days and then she'd come to check on the girl
herself. Everyone knew Qorri had faint mothering
tendencies, mostly when it came to her riders. So that meant that
Jeyme was going to get a visit whether she wanted
one or not. "Knock knock!"
Jeyme put down the sewing she had been working on and moved to the
door. Since Quinneth had not told her of anyone's arrival then she
figured it must be a non-rider at the door. When she swung it open she
smiled to see that it was the Headwoman, "Qorri, what brings you by?"
"Come to see that you had what you needed of course." Was the weyr
clean? Did she need clothes? Qorri also needed to make sure Jeyme was
eating. Sometimes girls who were worried didn't eat.
Since Cyradis and her daughter were visiting with D'hol, Jeyme was in
her weyr, and waiting none too patiently to get back to his side.
Sewing helped keep her mind and fingers busy while she was away from
her unconscious weyrmate. Jeyme motioned for Qorri to come inside, "I
don't suppose I am out of anything, really. I've been taking snacks
with me to the infirmary when I sit with D'hol."
That was good to hear. Qorri walked in and easily did a perusal of the area.
The drudges would have taken care of the laundry and bedclothes. Still, she
went to look at the dry storage cupboard for foodstuffs as well as a few
other things. She wondered if the girl's dragon needed any looking after but that
was none of her business.
Jeyme flushed a bit when Qorri went to look at the cupboards because
she knew that they were bare. Since she had been eating all of her
meals in the infirmary she really hadn't focused much on the state of
the weyr that she shared with D'hol.
"You aren't out of anything? Jeyme, I don't know what you're eating because
there is nothing here. Not even a crumb." She stood up and straightened,
making a mental list. Then, she tried to think of anything else.
"I know, D'hol would be so upset if he knew," Jeyme admitted, picking
at her fingernails anxiously. She just didn't have the desire to do
anything-not even something as essential as keeping food in the weyr.
"Don't you worry your little head. Next time, though, before it gets to this
point-please tell me." **This is why I check on things.** "Is there anything
else that you've found yourself thinking ohhh I need this...?" Her eyes
focused on the girl.
Jeyme continued picking at her fingernails, one of her nervous tics,
"Well, I didn't want to ask, I was going to revert some of my old
dresses... " She looked up at Qorri, "But I am in need of a pair of
riding breeches and a couple of tunics. Weyrlinghood has taken its
toll on my wardrobe."
"Come here and let me have a look at you." She could usually judge by
size but sometimes it helped to see her hand against someone to see the
length. "Light tunics or working tunics?"
"Working tunics, please." Jeyme answered.
Qorri put her fingers against Jeyme's shoulder line and then on her back to
figure out her waist size. Writing quickly on the small scrap hide she kept in
her pocket, she nodded to herself. "Allright so food and clothing. Anything
else you can think of? And don't worry about if we have it or not. If you don't
ask, you'll never receive."
"Actually," Jeyme had been contemplating one of her favorite past times at the
Hold. "If I could get my hands on some knitting equipment that would be great.
Colors of yarn don't really matter as long as I have something to keep my hands busy."
"Needles and yarn....That wouldn't be too hard." Qorri had had stranger requests.
Needles and yarn weren't hard to come by at all. Though the better wool was saved
for clothing and rugs. "You know, I could give you some pillows to sew up. That would
be a help to me."
Jeyme smiled, "Of course, Qorri, I could do that." It would be a nice distraction.
"Allright, I'll send a drudge by with everything we've discussed. For now, come down
to the Dining Cavern for dinner. You could use a good meal." She didn't think D'hol
would mind overly much if Qorri got some food down Jeyme. After all, he might wake
up and then again, he might not for awhile.
