J'ackt

As soon as he thought she might be awake and in her office and before
Saibra could possibly find him, Jenackt burst into Cyradis' office the
morning after the goldflight. "She's going to have Chioneth squash
me." His face was pale. " You and N'vanik said I would be safe, so
you've got to let me leave, or hide me....or something."

She'd just sat down with a pastry and a cup of klah when she blinked
up at the sudden invasion of her office. "Wait What," she asked. He
seemed almost frantic. "What happened?"

Mind focused on avoiding possible squashing, he wasn't concerned in
the slightest with possible embarrassment. "The goldflight. Saidrene
and I ...well, I bedded her. I didn't know that she had never done
that and I think I might have hurt her. Shards, I've never done that
either!" He ran a hand through his hair and exhaled, his eyes flicking
around for an escape route. "Saibra's going to slaughter me."

"Ah," said Cyradis. Of course her own experience of the flight was
quite a bit more intense than his could have possibly been and she was
out of the Weyr when other golds flew, but she knew of the effect and
this had been a rather intense flight.

"Sit down," she said. "She's not going to slaughter you." **Hopefully**

He plopped into a seat, but kept looking at the door as if expecting
to see a rampaging goldrider rush in. "I'm not so sure about that." He
scrubbed a hand through his hair. "I swear I didn't mean to hurt
Saidrene."

"I'm sure you didn't and I'm also sure Saibra will understand it as
well." She took another sip of her kalah. "Have your teachers taught
you about 'flight room etiquette yet?"

"Uh...not being too rough in flights?" He guessed and grimaced. "And
saying thanks and all..." He shifted uncomfortably in his chair and he
flushed. "I didn't mean to be rough. It just..well, shaffit, it felt
bloody good. And when I woke up she wasn't there, just the
uhm...blood. My Da told me what goes on and what goes where and
shards, what even to touch, but I wasn't really thinking about all
that! Its not like I had loads of women to practice with. " He then
realized he was discussing this sort of thing with a woman and
groaned, pressing his hand to his brow.

"Of course it did," she smiled. It had felt even better for her.
"You'll need to find her and see how she is. If she needs to go to the
healers, you go with her. Just be there to show you support her and
you're sorry if she's hurt. If she doesn't want to go to the healers
you let her do what she wants. She is Weyrbred and with a mother as a
goldrider, she knew the dangers far better than you did." Personally,
Cyradis blamed Saidrene for letting it happen in the first place. She
had to have known a gold flight was taking place and what would happen
if she weren't very careful.

Jenackt lifted his head from his hand and looked at her before
speaking softly. "What if she doesn't want to talk to me? I mean...I
owe her an apology. I know that. I should have asked or something."

"Listen," she said gently. "A gold flight is a very powerful thing and
when it happens right overhead like it did there are consequences."
She knew he was new to the weyr and it had probably taken him by
surprise. "Some people lock themselves in their rooms to prevent
accidents. Exactly these kinds of accidents." She sat back. "You know
I love my weyrmate and my preference is to be only with him. Yet when
Panitath rises, none of that matters. I join with the winner. It's
hard to explain but that is why your teachers tell you all these
things. Saibra is also a gold rider... she knows how it is. She may be
angry but she knows neither of you could help it, Jenackt. You
couldn't have asked."

"I know all that. I mean...I was told that about goldriders and all. I
didn't think it would be so strong." He sighed and rubbed at his eyes.
"So..she's not going to have Chioneth squash me?"

"No," Cyradis stifled the smile. "She's not going to have Chioneth
squash you. Dragons don't hurt people except by accident. They do try
to be very careful though, they think we're fragile."

"So...I can cancel my lessons to make sure I live, though, right?"

"Nice try, but no." She grinned at him. "You still have to do your lessons."

"Shaffit."
