Description: Aletta offers to take Figol up for his first dragon ride.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 23 of Turn 3
Afternoon Harper." Aletta found the young man by the lake. "Farsith and I are heading to the cove for a swim, did you want to come with us?"
"Hi, Aletta." Figol said a bit surprised to see her. He stood up and brushed at the back of his pants in case there was any debris, "Sure, why not. How far of a walk is it? Will we make it back in time for evening meal?" He'd miss eating for a chance to spend time with her, especially since he was pretty sure there was always something left on the hearth for the dragonriders, but he did have rehearsal after that.
"Well we where thinking of flying. Farsith wants to stretch her wings and I like the company." She smiled.
"So I can, I mean," he gulped, his eyes enlarged as he tried to grasp what he thought she was saying, "You'd take me with you... on your dragon?"
"Why not, it's the quickest way to get to the cove and everyone should ride a dragon at least once in their life." She thought his embarrassment was cute but kept her face straight.
"Great!" he didn't even try to hide that he was a novice at flying, he was too excited. "Well I'm ready!"
"Do you have a jacket, it's warmer than between but still chilly."
Figol frowned as he looked over towards the apprentice dorm. "I do, but it will take a while to get it and get back. Do I really need it?"
Aletta glanced at the sky, it should be warm enough she decided. "No, we'll fly low so it'll be warmer."
"Okay! To the cove then!"
Laughing Aletta headed toward Farsith who extended her neck toward the harper. }: I like his music, it's nice of him to play for us.:{ she told Aletta.
"She wants me to tell you she said thank you for playing for her the other evening she likes music." Aletta grab on dangling strap and pulled herself up Farsith's neck. She reached down to offer him her hand. "Put you foot about her shoulder and push up, I'll help you get settled."
Figol gave the green a bow, feeling it was only the proper thing to do.
"I was honored to play for her, and would gladly do it again if she, and you, wishes." He tried to imitate Aletta's movements, but wasn't very graceful in his maneuver. "I'm sorry, did I hurt her?"
"No not at all, dragons have very tough hide, it just takes practice. You did well for someone who hasn't ridden often." Aletta double checked his straps, she didn't want him to fall off. "Ready? Take off can be little unnerving."
As excited as he was, he was also bordering on terrified and he grabbed at the straps for security. "Do I just hold on to these?"
"Or my belt, waist, whatever makes you feel better." Figol was torn between decency and the desire to not fall off the dragon. He gingerly put his hands around the girls waist, and felt his cheeks flush at the close contact before pulling back and deciding that the straps would have to do. When she was sure he was settled she told Faristh to take off. The green lept skyward and called a greeting to watch dragon. The young green banked left, wanting her passenger to see the view from the air. But Figol saw no view. As soon as the green had pushed off, he had clamped his eyes shut and held his breath in, sure that if he tried to breathe he would scream. Slowly, as he realized he wasn't going to die, he did start to breathe, and even cracked open his eye and _tried_
to enjoy his first experience of riding a dragonback.
