Notes 2: This is before their graduation! And Dysali is back and open for
coposts! :)
She had been Scored again, this time on her back. Lillyth had managed
to avoid any severe Threading, as Dysali had taken the brunt of it.
Her green was beside herself, but Dysali was well enough to help out
with the weyrlings anyway, even if they were grounded for a few
sevendays.
One of the Senior Weyrlings had been a little late on the rope drills,
and since they were about to graduate, she wanted to talk to him after
the drill.
She asked Lillyth to bespeak Mayfeth and have them come for a chat.
She had helped with the weyrlings many times - Impressing as young as
she had had given her a couple of turns teaching weyrlings - and she
was not shy about correcting them, even the ones older than her, like
this one.
S'avn sighed at the thought of having to talk with Dysali. She was
okay, he supposed, as far as Weyrling helpers went, but he loathed
being pulled to the side for a "talk." He knew what she was going to
say, he and Mayfeth hadn't been at their best during the rope drills,
but everyone had a bad day. With his helmet hanging from his hand by
one strap, he approached the greenrider, "You wanted to see me?"
The greenrider nodded, having to look quite a bit up at the young man,
who was actually a few turns her elder, and said, "Yes, S'avn. You
were a little late with during rope drills. Your timing was off.
Are you having any problems? Your first blooding is soon, isn't it?
You don't want to be late up there. . " She waved her hand toward
the sky, her lips turned down.
"It will get you.. and maybe another rider.. hurt." The scars she
bore were visible, a little, but did not stand out. But he might
notice.
"Is there anything I can help you work on, to prepare for that? I am
here to help." Her arms crossed a little, though. She didn't expect
him to take her up on it. Not many did, and situations like this
always reminded her painfully of I'ster. And I'ster, D'ren.
The bluerider raised his shoulders. It rankled a bit that a
greenrider, a greenrider _younger_ than him, was trying to act as
though she were so much better at flying than he was. After all,
wasn't she helping out because she was _injured_ from Threadfall. How
great could she be? **Not very.** He thought sourly.
"Not really, unless you just saw something that you thought we could
do better." It was like chewing on thorns to get the words out of his
mouth. Since his talk and consequence punishment with D'hol and
Cyradis, S'avn had been _trying_, not very successfully, but trying
nonetheless, to just keep his mouth shut whenever possible.
One eyebrow arched at him. He _sounded_ alright but she didn't trust
him. She pointed out the scar on her cheek. "Better? Better will be
you and your lifemate not getting one of these. Its no game up there.
Even the best riders and dragons can get hurt. " It was no secret
she and Lillyth were sometimes a little reckless. But while her scars
had not calmed that part of her overly much, it had encouraged her to
be more...firm...with the weyrlings.
"Look, unless you have specific criticism to give on how Mayfeth and I
can do better, you are wasting my time, no offense." S'avn was blunt
and straight to the point as usual.
"Do it faster next time, weyrling." She emphasized the word almost in
an insulting way. "It is _never_ a waste of time to listen to
someone who has actually fought Thread, and I've been flying Thread
for three turns now, with the scars to show for it. You are
dismissed."
S'avn ground his teeth together to keep from retorting back with a
scathing response, causing a growl low in his throat as he tipped his
head at her stiffly and stalked away. **What's everyone's shardin'
problem around here?!**
