Teenage Girls

Writers: Nicole Bonvisuto
Date Posted: 14th April 2014

Characters: X'dris, Flita
Description: Flita and Xandris get into a confrontation during Panitath's Flight.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 12 of Turn 7

The Weyr had tried to explain gold flights to them, but neither Xandris nor
Flita had truly understood until they found themselves alone in a storage
closet.

Xandris? fingers slid through Flita?s long auburn hair as his lips pressed
to hers. Her warmth, her scent, everything was intoxicating, and he
_wanted_ her. He had always wanted her. But, when he lifted her onto a row
of boxes, her body stiffened against him. Xandris made nothing of it,
running kisses down her neck and onto her chest. Then, her shoulder turned
in against him and butted his head out of the way.

He looked up at her. Her eyes were full of tears.

?Flita... What?s wrong?? Xandris whispered.

?This is what I?m supposed to be, isn?t it?? Her voice cracked.
?This is why I had to come to the Weyr, so men could do what they want with
me during flights. So I can do what they all think I did back at the
cothold.?

?Flita, I?? he touch her cheek and froze up. Sucking in a breath, he found
himself unable to express himself. Overcome with confusion and lust, he
couldn?t say that he loved her, though he?d wanted to say it for so long.

?Leave me alone, Xandris,? she snapped. The girl recoiled along the boxes,
drawing her arms across herself in effort to cover her body. Flita leapt
off the boxes and out the door.

?Flita!? He yelled after her, trying to grab her as he left. She was gone
in a flurry of red hair. Her tears were still wet on his fingers.

Xandris turned around and kicked the boxes she had sat on. He felt like
tossing every one against the wall until they shattered into a thousand
pieces.

He did not understand the Weyr. He did not understand dragonflights. Most
of all, he did not understand teenage girls.
