"G'morning," Ikalis said. She liked blueriders, feeling a kinship with them, and tried to get to know them when new ones transferred in. "How are you today?"
His head came up and dark eyes took her in without really seeing her. If he wasn't so occupied, he might have given a better greeting, though E'rae wasn't a talkative bluerider. "Morning..ah...hungry?" That was the best he could do even as he began to eat the roll.
"Starving," she said. "Been cleaning storerooms since dawn."
"I meant...I'm hungry." Looking a bit out of it, he tried to focus his thoughts so he didn't sound like a complete idiot. "A long day for you then." He appreciated honest work-leftover from his days as a holder.
"I'll get to sleep through the heat of the day, though." That made it not all bad.
"MM we usually have our wing meetings then so that we're inside." Exercises went before that and drills came after. It was the same at River Bluff though Dolphin Cove was a little hotter. "I'm E'rae," he offered as an afterthought.
"Ikalis. Nice to meet you. Which wing're you in?"
"Ahhh Cyclone, with D'hol." So far he actually didn't mind flying in it. There were a lot of young riders but given Dolphin Cove's past history and difficulties, he understood why.
"My sister's in Hurricane. I'm proud of her," she said with a grin. "D'hol - tough but good. Interesting man."
"Oh you have a sister?" That was an interesting piece of information and he filed it away in the back of his head. "Yeah everyone says he is tough, definitely different than my last Wingleader." He didn't know about interesting since he hadn't paid any more attention than that.
"Is it a lot to learn, being in a new wing at a new place?"
"Well the weather's the same so that helps. New maneuvers, new people, new dragons....it is a lot to learn. Then you have to figure out where everything is." That had taken awhile. Not to mention moving his daughter over.
"Well, if you need any supplies ever, I know where everything is."
"I might take you up on that. Umm...where do you usually stay at?" Of course he didn't even know where the drudges' quarters were at Dolphin Cove. E'rae had just been staying in his weyr as much as he could.
"They're down past the dining cavern. When you go left, there are the storerooms, right there are the quarters."
"Well then, pleased to meet you Ikalis. I've got to get going since I promised Werenn we'd go walking but...thanks." That was a simple enough exchange, which he was grateful for.
"No problem. Catch you around," she said with a warm smile.
