Chamia was sitting on Sh'dori's lap and doing interesting things among his chest hairs. While Sh'dori was busy kissing her, not just lips but cheeks, jaws, neck, throat...anywhere he could reach without them falling off from the chair. Reymer tried not to look at the couple, or listen to the interesting noises the woman was making, as he took a bite of his roast wherry, but it was rather hard when they were sitting right across the dinner table.
Somehow the word 'proddy' just seemed to take on a much lighter connotation in the Weyr. A green dragon might be considered 'proddy', but he had no idea how to describe the _residents_ of the Weyr. It seemed everyone around him was in a constant state of stimulation to one degree or another. How did anything get _done_ around here? No wonder they depended so much on tithing. They were all too busy climaxing to produce anything on their own! He stabbed another piece of wherry as he tried to push down the ungrateful thoughts running through his head.
"Ooh," Chamia moaned and then pulled herself off from him to catch her breath. With a sensuous smile, she took a piece of meat and put it between her lips. Sh'dori took it from there, with a passionate kiss.
The brown rider's eyes met the boys. "You've got a problem, kid?" he asked with kind voice. The candidate quickly looked away and shook his head. He stabbed a tubar and shoved it in his mouth, determined not to let this meal last longer than it had to.
"Candidates," Sh'dori chuckled softly. Reymer shot the brownrider a rather dirty look. Just who did he think he was practically undressing a woman at a meal and then treating _him_
like he had done somethin wrong! He quickly turned away though. The man was a brownrider, and this was a Weyr, and somehow, Reymer knew he had to either adjust, or at least accept, or leave. He was determined that the Weyr would not defeat him.
"We're spoiling some poor kids apetite," Sh'dori murmured to the greenrider's ear. "Who cares," the greenrider had no symphathy for holdbred candidates and their inhibitations. The candidate rolled his eyes. Shards but Weyrfolk were self-absorbed. Reymer had never had that luxury.
The passionate moment between two riders were interrupted when two little girls with dark curly hairs came running and shrieking. Chamia got up from Sh'dori's lap and snatched one of the girls while the other one climbed on to the lap she had vacated. "Hello, Mamie, Daddy!" "Hello, darlings. What are you doing here and where is your fostermother?" Chamia asked. Reymer hid his surprise behind a long drink of juice, but he wasn't sure what surprised him more - that there were only _two_ children or that the pair could be interrupted long enough to acknowledge them. The candidate chided himself for his ungracious attitude. He had to get used to it. He had no choice - either he adapt to this way of life and Impress, or go home and face the possibility of starvation with all his family. Spearing another tuber, he steeled his resolve to ignore the pair of them completely.
While the girls explained the situation, a frown apperaed to the greenrider's face. She and Sh'dori exhanged looks of longing and promises of later. The fact that their evening's entertainment was put on hold was not lost on Reymer and he breathed a sigh of relief. At least now he could eat.
"Okay, hatchlings, let's get some food for you two," Sh'dori said and got up. He let the little girl slid to the floor and hold her hand. "I don't want fish!" the girl with Chamia declared. "We need to discuss their fostermother-situation" Chamia murmured to the brownrider when the went past Reymer to get food for the children.
Sh'dori just nodded. For both of them children were more important than little debauchery. (Which they could have later when the kids went to sleep.)
