Vandor

Kapera wandered into the Infirmary and settled into a chair to wait to be
seen. She'd felt perfectly fine since arriving here, but that didn't mean
that getting a baseline was a bad idea.

"Ah, goldrider, welcome." The wait wasn't long, Kapera had arrived during
a slump
in the amount of people who drove in and out of the infirmary. Vandor
greeted her
with a wide smile, his teeth like pearls against a muddy bank. "If you'll
follow
me." He motioned toward the back of the infirmary, then slipped through
so she
could follow him to a curtained off area. He motioned toward an
examination table,
then lowered into a chair so he wouldn't tower over her. "Now, how can I
help you?"

The goldrider passed over a packet of hide. "I wanted to get a basic check
up before
anything major happens," she explained.

"And she comes prepared! I like you already." Vandor accepted the
package then
began to thumb through the documents contained within. "I'm going to have
to sit
and read this more thoroughly, but why don't we start with you telling me
things I
should be most aware of. Pre-existing conditions, major injuries and
illnesses,
that sort of thing."

"There is actually something I'd like you to check on. I left Dragonsfall
because of a winter fever that gave me breathing trouble for quite some
time after. It doesn't seem to happen in warm climates, but just in
case..."

"Hm." Vandor flipped through the files, then pulled out the one that
mentioned the
respiratory issues. That he took a moment to read over and nodded.
"Possibly
pneumonia, and yes, it can recur. It's less likely in warmer climates
because you
don't have to worry about the cold inhibiting your immune system, but it's
not
completely negated. Let me listen to your lungs." He set aside the
files, then
from within a drawer, extracted a long tube with a fluted end. "I'm going
to put
this against your chest and every time I do so, take in a breath and let
it out
slowly. I'll shift it a couple of times to hear better. All right?"

"I just don't want to be taken out of flying again," she admitted. Nodding
at his instructions, she settled herself and took breaths when directed.

Vandor inserted the narrow end into his ear and listened carefully to
various areas of her lungs. Then he switched to her back. After a
few moments, he removed the contraption and shook his head. "I'm not
hearing anything currently. However, if you have any respiratory
issues, come right away. If you're susceptible, we want to make sure
we catch any infection early." He set the tubular item aside for a
momet. "I would recommend that you make sure you're particularly warm
when you go/between/. It's not always the chill itself that causes
problems, going between temperature extremes can affect you negatively
as well. Do you have any other issues you want me to be aware of?"

"So lighter clothing for the day to day here, but more layers and
warmth for active flights." She could handle that.

At his next question, she shook her head. "I've been pretty healthy."

"Good. Eat right, exercise - an easy feat when you're a dragonrider - and of
course, if you have any issues, don't hesitate to come straight here."
There were
some illnesses that could crop up even turns later, and they could wreak
havoc with
one's body. Vandor returned the piece he'd taken out to the file, then
set it
aside. "I'd like to listen to your heart, look at your reflexes and some
other
generic things just for a complete physical. Is that amenable?"

"Perfectly fine. I'd rather do it now then later." And he seemed nice and
not scary.

"Good. I'm sure all will be well, but I'll walk you through it as I go."
Vandor
stood, his massive forward like a tower hovering over her, but called a
female
apprentice to join them, then went through the motions of the exam. He was
thorough, but he didn't rush through the process. He listened carefully
to her
organs, checked her all over, then nodded when it was over. "Everything
looks good
so far. Just let me know if you have any questions or concerns."

"Could I have a new packet of the pregnancy herbs?" she asked, not wanting
to forget that.

"Of course. I'll get that made up. If there's nothing else, I'll take
care of that
now and you can be on your way." Vandor didn't stand, for he wanted to be
sure she
was taken care of completely before he stood, indicating that the
appointment was
over. He was never one to hurry a patient, and he certainly wouldn't
start then.

"That's all. I do appreciate your aid today," she said with a smile.

"All right. Give me just a moment to get your packet and you can be on
your way."
