Triad's Basic Rules

Basic rules of canon, play and conduct.

Plagiarism

What is Plagiarism

Plagiarism is using another's words or ideas without their express permission and/or passing it off as your own original work. This includes (but is not limited to) songs, stories, plotlines, persona sheets, poetry, and quotes, whether the party being plagiarized against is a member of Triad or not.

Plagiarism at Triad Weyr will not be tolerated in either posts to the Triad list or in persona sheets.

A general rule of thumb - if you didn't write it, don't use it.

Penalties for Plagiarism

Should a member be caught plagiarizing another's work (whether a member of Triad or not), the following may occur:

  • 1st Offence: Written Warning
  • 2nd Offence: Council supervised disciplinary mentorship
  • 3rd Offence: Loss of Rank
  • 4th Offence: Expulsion from the club

Should the Council deem it necessary, stricter penalties may be enforced when a serious violation has occured.

What to do if you suspect a member has plagiarized from you

Please send an e-mail to the Triad Council with all necessary information (your name, contact information, what you believe has been plagiarized, etc.). The council, in turn, will contact the member in question about the allegation and work with you until the matter is resolved. If the Council finds an act of plagiarism has taken place, disciplinary action will be taken.

PG-17 Posts

Guidelines

  • We've never allowed any pornographic material onto the website in the past, and we do not intend to now. That being said, below are our rules for our PG-17 rating.
  1. ALL posts with PG-17 content must be clearly marked in the Headings section, and preferably in the Subject line. Don't wait until time to send the post to put the warnings in. Do them as soon as the post starts to take a PG-17 turn.
  2. If you still read a PG-17 post that is labeled and have a problem with it, you can't say that you weren't warned.
  3. Some posts need to be marked PG-17 that have no mention of sex or nudity. They are the ones that detail abuse (whether told as a story or actually happening in the post), violence, or any subject matter you wouldn't read over with your innocent baby sister (if yours isn't, pretend she is).

What is allowable?

  • Nudity, physical descriptions, and anything short of actual intercourse taking place in a post. If you're not sure, send the post to the Council and we'll proof it for you and tell you if it goes over the PG-17 line.

Basic Rules of Intimacy

How far can you go?

  1. No mention of parts covered by a standard pair of Terran underpants. You can _imply_ all day long, but don't give _details_. Ask for an example post if you are unsure of the limits.
  2. Anything above the waist is fine, but try not to overdo it.
  3. The actual act of intercourse may not take place in the post.
  4. Nudity and descriptions of it (barring parts mentioned in #1) are allowed, particularly at the Weyrs. This is Pern, not Earth, and weyrfolk bathe in public bathing rooms, after all.
  5. Think American Soap Opera - they get pretty detailed, but always draw the line at actual sex.
  6. Rape does, unfortunately, happen in a female repressive scenario. Please gain the approval of your local Level One ranker. The rape scene MUST follow the above rules and contain the additional heading of NC-17. It doesn't prevent our younger readers from reading it, but it also alerts anyone that such a post contains very upsetting subject matter.

To paraphrase a founding member who helped craft the policy, write to develop two characters who are exploring each other mentally, emotionally, and physically, not simply for the sake of eroticism.

Penalties for Violating the PG-17 Rules

Violations of the PG-17 rules (including failure to label) will result in the following:

  • 1st Offense: a Written reminder of the policy.
  • 2nd Offense: Written warning.
  • 3rd Offense: Council supervised disciplinary mentorship.
  • 4th Offense: Expulsion from the club.

Should the Council deem it necessary, stricter penalties may be enforced when a serious violation has occurred.Triad's Basic Rules
