Physical Description of Persona:
Arlin is 5' 11," broad shouldered, and muscular. His eyes are blue and his hair golden brown and kept just a few inches long. He is tan from the manual labor he does outside. He tends to wear neutral colors, so he doesn't call attention to himself.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Arlin is used to going along with what others expect him to do. His plan has always been to marry someone and live at the Hold and, even though that doesn't appeal to him, until recently it seemed to be the only option.

Arlin knows he is attracted to men, but growing up in a Hold where homosexuality is not tolerated has led to him bottling up his romantic feelings as much as possible. He desperately wants to have friends his age but can come across as standoffish since he doesn't want women to think he's romantically interested, because he isn't, or men to think he's flirting, even when he'd like to. Now that he's at the Weyr, he's hoping he'll be able to engage in a more honest way with both men and women, but he isn't quite sure how to go about this.

History of Persona:
Arlin is from Barrier Hills Hold and has two older brothers as well as 3 younger half-siblings from his father's second wife. He had a fairly quiet childhood, but from an early age realized he was different. He had crushes on other boys, which he quickly learned to keep quiet about. When he was 10, there was a scandal at the Hold when two men were found together in a compromising position and were then forced to leave. That taught him to try to ignore any romantic feelings and has led to him sometimes behaving awkwardly around his male peers, not wanting anyone to get the wrong idea.

At 13, his behavior around a female friend led to her thinking he was romantically interested, so he has also pulled back from forming friendships with women. He has been teased and bullied a few times for his soft spoken nature, and luckily his brother, Lenorin, was always there to stand up for him. He is most comfortable being with family, since he doesn't need to second-guess his interactions with them.

Arlin and his older brother, Lenorin, went to Barrier Lake Weyrhold to help with construction. With the arrival of dragonriders and support staff, Arlin began to see how different his life could be at a Weyr. Then, being Searched has made that future a real possibility. On the one hand, he is excited to begin exploring same-sex relationships. On the other, he's terrified Lenorin, a fellow Candidate, will find out.

Description of Dragon:
Oberlith is a light blue color, with slightly darker markings on his snout, the tip of his tail, and the underside of his wings. He is currently on the smaller side for a blue, but time will tell if he remains small.

As a dragonet, he is curious and friendly, loves the water, and enjoys watching the actions of creatures smaller than himself. He doesn't like to be alone but, luckily for Arlin, is happy to be with his clutchmates.
