Persona Profile: Kailis

Writer: Aaron

Kailis

Name: Kailis
Pronunciation: KYE - liss; /ˈkäj lɪs/
Age: 20
Birthday: m9 d1
Rank: Wingrider, Ash Wing
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Craft: Technician
Craft Rank: Senior Apprentice
Face Claim: Zendaya

Physical Description of Persona:
Kailis is tall and slender with bronzish brown skin, mahogany brown eyes, and long dark brown hair she keeps in intricate braids. She has narrow shoulders and hips and a strong jaw. She is nimble-fingered and deceptively strong, well-toned of muscle, agile and graceful. She dresses very simply without much care toward much else but comfort and practicality, though she does occasionally lacquer her fingernails for Gathers and get-togethers.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Kailis is very easily distractible at most times. A million thoughts are always running through her head, and she has trouble keeping track of them along with what someone else might be saying to her. She struggles with listening to understand when the conversation has turned away from topics that interest her and is instead considering the next thing she means to say instead. However, when something catches her focus, she becomes the exact opposite. She is impossible to distract, and her attention is nearly Impossible to gain. She is almost always fully absorbed in her craftwork and will easily forget to eat or stop working at the end of the day, and she is often working on schematics long after she should have gone to sleep. She is often very hard on herself when her attention span causes her to forget important things or hurt people's feelings, and she experiences intense feelings of remorse.

History of Persona:
Kailis is the youngest child of a Master Technician and his wife, and while she grew up in his shadow, she never felt overshadowed. On the contrary, she loved being near her father and especially his work. She was deeply absorbed in the craft long before she was officially old enough to apprentice and she was constantly disassembling whatever she could get her hands on to try to find how it worked.

She was completely unfazed when her family moved to the Weyr, and she did not understand her mother's sudden awkwardness around her eldest sibling Z'kai once he had Impressed. She was never very good at picking up on innuendo and euphemism, but she had little choice but to go with her when she left and decided she had to go with her.

It was not until much later that she discovered that her mother was none too happy with her learning her father's craft, even unofficially. She had strange ideas about what women could and could not do, and she could never explain the why of them to Kailis's satisfaction- it was always simply just the way things were. The final straw was when her mother shouted at her upon finding her kissing another girl. Kailis left to rejoin her father where he was posted, who happily continued her training.

Eventually, Z'kai asked her to come to the newly opened Barrier Lake Weyrhold to help with the reconstruction, and she eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Dragon's Name: Chordath
Dragon's Age: 1
Dragon's Hatching Date: m13 d1
Dragon's Colour: Green
Next Mating Flight: m3 d20 of turn 13
Description of Dragon:
Chordath is an ordinary looking green. Nothing about her stands out. She is neither large nor small for her color, not especially brightly or darkly colored, with no obvious markings or differences in color from one bit of hide to the next.

She is always watching, keeping an eye on anything and everything, yet rarely has much to say until and unless she spies something she considers to be _wrong_. She will not stand for injustice of any kind and will stand up to any bully, champion anyone downtrodden, with little regard to the consequences.
