Face Claim: Skyler Davenport

Physical Description of Persona:
Paldra is a willowy 5’7, with pale blonde hair cut about chin length. It tends to hang in slight waves around her face, framing pale skin and summer sky blue eyes. She tends to wear comfortable, baggy clothes of any color. While her speaking voice tends to be soft and shy, her singing voice is a clear and commanding alto.

Paldra has no real grasp of her appearance because she is blind, which is not noticeable at first glance. The only things that give her condition away are a slightly far away look to her and the well-used carved wooden stick that she usually carries. Paldra does have some vision in the form of being able to see a light source and shadows moving in front of it but not enough to determine much beyond that.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Paldra alternates between modes and moods. She’s determined to be as independent as possible but is also painfully aware of how her disability forces her to rely on others. If she can do it by herself, she will. Help she will accept, pity she will not, so if she senses the latter from someone, she will push them away (in more ways than one) and stubbornly show them what she can do. If this backfires on her, she will fall into a despair that takes some days to resolve until her resilience kicks back in. At her heart, Paldra is tired of being seen as someone “less” because she is blind. Music, textures, and smells are her loves. Though she can’t see the world, she is determined to experience it in other ways. Take her on adventures.

History of Persona:
Paldra was born at Leeward Lagoon Hold, the eldest of a small group of sisters. What began as a normal childhood was interrupted when she was eight, when a case of firehead caused her to become blind. The adventurous child she had been became withdrawn, forced to deal with a new way of navigating a darkened world. Music became a way for her to still experience the beauty of the world. She went beyond just the Teaching Ballads -- she endeavored to learn every song the Harpers at the Hold knew. They helped her develop her voice into a fine instrument, even if she couldn’t read music.

She begged her family to send her along to Harper Hall but they held out on her, hoping for a marriage prospect. But no man would take on a blind wife -- how could she care for a household like that? So the Turns passed and Paldra grew bitter, feeling somewhere between an invalid and living nowhere near her potential.

At the age of twenty, she finally convinced her family, with the help of the Harper at their Hold, to let her go to Harper Hall to train.
