Persona Profile: Grazylle (Inactive)

Writer: JR

Name: Grazylle
Age: 59
Birthday: m3 d27
Rank: Hall Resident
Location: Dolphin Hall, Dolphin Cove Weyr
Craft: Dolphineer
Craft Rank: Master
Speciality: Salvage

Physical Description of Persona:
Grazylle has aged gracefully, a minor miracle given her lifestyle. She stands at a little above average height, at 5'7", with a mannishly close cropped hairstyle. Her dark hair is now liberally sprinkled with gray and her deeply tanned skin creased with lines, mostly from sun than age. Her brown eyes remain sharp and discerning and she's in remarkable physical shape, with a lean and muscled body from turns of swimming.

Emotional Description of Persona:
While she certainly enjoys her pleasures when off duty, Grazylle tends to be a hard taskmaster while on it. Not unsympathetic, but she has little tolerance for stupidity or ignorance. Since apprentices tend to irk her on both charges, she was immensely pleased to accept a Hallsecond position, which allows her to defer to the Master of Apprentices unless absolutely necessary. Surprising to all but those who know her well, she has a soft spot for her family, closest friends and underdogs.

History of Persona:
Grazylle was born at a small cothold near Tillek Sea Hold, her life influenced by the ocean from an early age. Her father was a seacrafter, her mother a fosterparent who helped keep an eye on the children who had both parents on ship at any given time. She knew early on she wanted to stay close to the ocean, but didn't much care for the duties of a seacrafter. Instead she gravitated to the dolphincraft, drawn by the close partnership between crafter and animal along with the opportunity to put her strong swimming skills to good use.

Her teenage years were fairly quiet, for while she was outspoken and one of the leaders in her peer group, Grazylle had learned respect for rules and authority. While she didn't always agree with them, she did follow them and encouraged her friends to as well.

As a journeywoman, she spent time at a few coastal locations, gaining knowledge and experience, and in one fateful assignment, a husband, Brenigan. They married shortly after Grazylle's 26th birthingday and had four children in the following turns.

Their relationship first became strained during their late thirties when Grazylle was offered the opportunity to earn her mastery, leading a team of dolphineers in exploring and salvaging a sunken ship in deeper waters off the coast of Ista Island. Frustrated by the craftmasters' resistance to promoting him, Brenigan continued to treat Grazylle badly for several turns until the man accepted that he would remain a senior journeyman for the rest of his turns.

It took another ten turns, but Grazylle was eventually offered the Hallsecond position at Dolphin Cove, which caused another rift between her and her husband, who wanted to remain in the North. When his wife finally called him on it and told him he was welcome to stay while she went on, he grudgingly accompanied her in the transfer.

Pets

Goober, Bronze Firelizard: aged 24, hatched m2 d19
When Grazylle began heading up more projects as a Senior Journeywoman, she quickly realized a flit would be essential to reporting back to the Hall. A perk of living on the coast, she was able to find a clutch and pick the biggest egg in it that wasn't a gold, hoping for a bronze that would be easy to train. She got her wish. Goober (named by her son, Zeilgan) is big for a bronze flit and heavily built. A murky greenish bronze, he is devoted to Grazylle and very well trained.
