B'ram

B'ram

B'ram peered into the darkened weyr from the ledge entrance. "Dyaera?" He could hear no answer. "It's me. B'ram. Remember me?"

Silence.

**Are you sure she's in here?** he asked his brown, turning back to look at her green Tilarth with questioning eyes. }:Yes, Tilarth says she's in her bed. She's awake. She says you should just go in.:{
**If you're sure...** The brownrider took a few tentative steps into the room. He noticed the plates stacked up and a couple crumpled piles that could either be blankets or clothing. It was hard to tell in the dark. B'ram peeked his head into her sleeping room door. "Dyaera?" he asked softly.

"B'ram?" A tossled head rose up from a pile of blankets and pillows, and Dyaera squinted at him in the dark. "Is that you?"

"Yeah, sweetheart, it's me," B'ram said softly. "What are you doing in the dark?"

"Sleeping," she replied, her voice sounding groggy. "Do you want to come in and sit down?" "Sure. Can I turn up the glows a bit?" He knew she hadn't been sleeping. Her dragon had told his as much. B'ram wasn't quite sure what was going on and he was starting to worry about her.

"I guess." She was fairly sure that it would just make her weyr look like a worse mess, but she had a hard time bringing herself to care. "Shards," he breathed as the revealed the true state of the weyr. It was so very different from the last time he had visited it. _She_ was different. It looked as if all the light had left her eyes. He sat down on the bed next to her, pulling dirty strands of hair back from her eyes. "What's been going on here then?"

"Nothing," she replied, wishing the words weren't so true. Nothing, nothing... _nothing_ had happened, because she couldn't seem to summon the energy to do anything. Or even care that she hadn't.

"Hasn't anyone been coming in to help you with all _this_?" he asked with a sweeping arm.

"People told me they'd come by if I asked them to," she replied a little contritely. "I just... didn't feel like having company."

"What's going on in there, sweetheart?" he asked gently as he lightly tapped her forehead.

She closed her eyes and buried her face in her pillow, not wanting him to see the tears that came all too easily now. "I don't know," she said finally, her voice muffled by the pillow. B'ram reached over and rubbed her back. He was at a loss as to what else he could do. She seemed so _miserable_. He had been in some pretty low places, but he could tell she was in a much darker, much deeper place than he had ever been.

Her shoulders relaxed slowly and she took a shuddering breath before peeking up at him. "Do you have a bathing pool?"

"A very small one," he nodded.

She hesitated with uncharacteristic shyness. "Do--do you think I could use it sometime? I don't like using the common one so much anymore..." "Of course," he nodded. "Shall we go now? Come on."

Dyaera's eyes widened. "Now?" She hadn't been quite ready to actually follow through... though she had to admit that the idea of soaking was rather nice...

"I think it's time we got you out of this bed and scrubbed you good," he said with a teasing smile. "I'll even do some of the scrubbing if you like."

Her smile was shy and a ghost of her usual grin. "I suppose that might be nice." "You suppose it might be nice?" B'ram asked with a look of hurt pride. "Shells girl, I know for a fact it would be sharing _great_!" He smiled teasingly and leaned down to kiss her softly. Not passionately, just enough to show her than he truly cared, and that he would provide her whatever comfort she would need in this dark time she was going through.

The kiss she gave him in return wasn't particular enthusiastic, and she pulled back after a few moments. "So we really are going there now?"

"As soon as you're ready," B'ram smiled. "You're the boss today."

She held her arms up, sliding one around his neck. "Then you get to carry me." "My, you are the senior gold today, aren't you," he smiled as he lifted her into his arms. "All right my queen. Let's get you to your bath."
