Lowly Harper

Characters: D'wol, Jyramikah
Description: Dirwol meets Jyramikah and asks her to dinner.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 7 of Turn 3

Dirwol watched the beautiful gold as she glided in for a landing on the beach. Her rider slide from her back to the warm sands. He watched the sun play off her brown hair, setting off the red highlights that danced through it's shiny locks. He watched her graceful movements and easy smile. He had watched her on several occasions and had admired her. But, that was as far as it ever went. She was meant for someone better than he. He was just a lowly Harper.

In his lap young Treasure looked back and fourth between the goldrider and her friend. She was confused by the warring feelings he was having as he quietly watched. She cocked her head as she too watched the goldrider's every movement.

}:There is someone watching you.:{ Ikoladith informed her rider sounding quite amused at the thought. They had come to the beach because her rider was in the mood for a swim, but the gold was going to try to get a bath before they left.

**Love, there is always someone watching me. What's so special about this person?** Jyramikah replied with a soft laugh. The simple nature of being a goldrider meant that she had people watching her constantly when they were outside their weyr. She had gotten used to it after the first few turns of being stared at by bronzeriders and brownriders or even envious candidates.

}:Over there behind you. He has a little gold who looks like me.:{ the gold replied.

Jyramikah glanced over and smiled as she saw the young man sitting with a flit who was indeed gold. That must mean he was special. **Tanzin would like to meet the golden flit, wouldn't he?** she asked her lifemate as she headed in that direction.

As if he knew he was wanted, Tanzin appeared hovering over her shoulder. She let him settle on her shoulder and listened to him chatter away about something. He sent her images of meatrolls and how he had wanted one, but someone chased him away. She laughed as Tanzin noticed the young man's flit. As they got closer she called out, "Hello, there. My friend here wanted to meet your pretty little gold."

"Then he is welcome to meet her." He smiled. He had not expected for her to come over. He was slightly nervous but didn't let it show. "This young lady is Treasure. I've a blue around somewhere. My name is Dirwol." He said as he stood to give her a slight bow.

"It's nice to meet you, Dirwol. I'm Jyramikah, but then you probably know that already. This chatty little brown is Tanzin." Jyramikah replied with a grin. She had a hard time remembering that most of the Weyr would know who she was even if she didn't know who they were. He had the knots of a Harper, so she wondered if he was from the Harper hall.

"Well it is a pleasure to meet you both." Just then a small blue appeared and started chattering. Dirwol chuckled as he listened to his two start conversing. They were sure to get the brown in on it too. He watched as they took off with a call to the brown. "Off on some all important adventure I'm sure." He smiled.

"Tanzin always finds something to do that will get him food, so no doubt they've headed towards the kitchens." she replied watching the trio of flits as they flew off and went /between/.

"Then he is with the right flit. Treasure seems to find it easy to convince people to part with food. I think it has something to do with her hide color." He chuckled. "So, how do you manage to keep up with that beautiful gold of yours? Treasure is hard enough to care for. I couldn't imagine her being as big as your lovely lady. Though I would be honored to meet her." He smiled gently.

"There's always candidates wanting to help me and the older three of my four children help as often as I let them. She's always interested in meeting new people. Let me see what she's occupied with and perhaps I can convince her to come over for a few moments." Jyramikah said as she glanced out to where the gold was frolicking in the waves like a weyrling.

**Ikoladith, will you come over here for a moment?**

}:Why? If you want me to scare him off the answer is no.:{ the gold replied warily. She was glad that her rider was talking to men again. She wasn't happy without a male around and Ikoladith preferred her rider to be happy.

**No, I want to introduce you to Dirwol. I've never asked you to scare off a man before, have I?**

}:No, but there's always a first time. I shall be over there shortly. These waves are boring me without someone else to play with.:{ the gold stated as if she had to justify leaving the water.

The gold made her way over to where her rider was talking with the candidate and settled down carefully so as not to get them wet or sandy. She looked at the candidate and wondered if he would be the one to capture her rider's heart. He seemed a little shy from the way he barely glanced at her when she looked at him. }:Tell him I won't eat him.:{ she told Jyra sounding rather amused at her joke.

"She says to tell you that she won't eat you. Which simply means she likes you."

Dirwol smiled, "I am honored you would choose to like me gracious lady." Dirwol decided to be a bit braver and ask the gold's permission to take her rider to dinner. "If I may, I was wondering if you would mind terribly if I took your beautiful rider to the dinning cavern for the evening meal?"

}:You had better not tell him no.:{ Ikoladith interjected before her rider could answer.

**I'm actually planning on accepting, love. Don't get so demanding.** Jyra said before turning her attention back to the Harper. "I would love to." she replied.

"Good. I was hoping you'd say that." He felt oddly at ease with the beautiful young rider. "Shall we?" He smiled as he offered his arm.

"If you'd like Ikoladith can fly us closer to the dining cavern." she suggested taking his arm with a grin. She could really get used to being treated like this if she wasn't careful. She wondered what the Weyr would think if she took up with a non-rider and then decided that she was thinking way too far in advance. They had just begun to know each other.

"That will be alright. Leave her to enjoy the warm sun. We shall walk
and
enjoy the day." He smiled a bright smile, as he lead her back toward
the
weyr.
