Mesarian was bored. He glanced around the barracks and his eyes settled on a holdless he'd barely spoken to. Hmm. He was a bit of all right, Mesarian supposed. Worth a shot.

He went over and leaned against Tathalin's bunk. "Hey."

Tathalin, of course, startled. Just a little. "... Hey." He responded, and swallowed. "Um... Mesarian, right? ... Sorry. A lot of names, recently. You know?"

"You remembered my name," Mesarian said in a low voice. "I must be memorable." Nevermind that he couldn't remember the other Candidate's name.

"... Um." Tathalin responded. "... Well. We _are_ in the... same classes. And we're both.... you know." He sat up a little straighter. "... I... don't want to get in trouble." he added cautiously.

"Trouble? What trouble? We're just talking." Mesarian shifted to somehow lean even more casually. "We could do more than talk, and we won't get in trouble for that here, either."

Tathalin slid him a sidelong glance, then nodded slowly. "... We-- we could." He agreed, careful. "... Um. Hi." He repeated, for lack of anything else he could think to say. "Do you... uh... like the Weyr so far?"

"I love the Weyr. Aside from all the rules and classes and whatever." Mesarian waved a hand. "What about you? You seem like you want to hide most of the time."

"I... well. The Weyr classes aren't so bad." Tathalin responded, after a moment. "There's... always some new information."

He paused, then added, "... Yeah. I... I'm just... careful? I mean... I don't want to, um. Get in trouble."

"Yeah, I get that. I don't wanna get kicked out of Standing." Mesarian looked him over again, already bored of small talk. "You ever been with a man?"

Tathalin flushed red to the tips of his ears, but he gave a tentative sort of nod. "... Twice." he admitted. "... Um. Are you suggesting...?"

Mesarian grinned. He was actually surprised Tathalin had some experience, and even more suprised he'd admitted it so easily, but then again Tathalin had been at the Weyr as long as Mesarian had been. Plenty of time to try things out, if he hadn't done so before. "Yeah. You wanna go for a tumble?"

Was it possible to turn any more red? Tathalin wasn't sure. "Um... well." He responded. "... Me? Are you... sure? I'd be happy to." He added hastily.

Well, that was easier than Mesarian had thought. He moved closer. "You okay with kissing?" _Some_ people were so fussy about it.

Tathalin swallowed once more. His gaze dropped, then lifted again. "I _am_." He responded, and shifted a little bit so Mesarian could join him if he wanted. "Um... shouldn't we... find somewhere a little bit more private?"

Mesarian slid onto the bed and leaned close, his smile slightly predatory. "Just a little something to get started." He pulled Tathalin into a kiss.

Right. That made sense. Of course.

... Whatever Tathalin been about to say was cut off when Mesarian closed the last distance and kissed him.

Of course he _had_ to respond, and he did, a little bit unpracticed, but completely willing.

Mesarian had been with many boys and men who had little experience and he knew how to coax with his lips and tongue, to show Tathalin what to do. Wrapping his arms around the other Candidate, he pulled Tathalin closer as the kiss deepened and his blood heated.

Tathalin pressed in closer in turn, a little clumsy yet but he was a fast learner. His own blood warmed, and his arms lifted, going around Mesarian in turn, deepening his kiss right back.

"Mmm, good boy," Mesarian said against his lips. Teachable. He liked teachable. "Let's go find a flightroom."

Tathalin flushed redder again, and pulled back just enough to nod. "... After you?" he offered. "I know there's... that way?" He waved a hand in that general direction.

"I know where I'm going." Mesarian smirked as he stood and offered Tathalin a hand.

"... Probably better than I... I do." Tathalin mumbled, and rose as well, placed his hand in Mesarian's. "Lead the, um, way."

His gaze darted to Mesarian's and he tried a smile.

Mesarian's hand tightened on Tathalin's and a few teases and whistles followed them out of the barracks.
