Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 28 of Turn 3

B'drin had woken early that morning. He made sure he was all clean and so was his Lumyth. He smiled as he looked at the pack he had spent a few sevendays preparing. He wanted his friend Vykor to have a good Turns End. He had gotten together everything he could, which wasn't a whole lot. He had a basket of werry, fruit, tubers, and a few other things. He also had a gift for his young friend. He carefully got it all together and walked over to his dragon's couch and started getting ready.

Lumyth was practically dancing as B'drin got him ready. His brown had come to enjoy going to see Vykor. B'drin chuckled as he mounted and checked his straps again. He gave Lumyth the signal to lift off and they sprang into the air. He waited till they were high enough and then pictured their usual landing spot. This was the first time he would go there /between/.

They came out of /between/ perfectly. He gave a relieved sigh as they landed. It had been perfect. He quickly dismounted and took his packages down. Pan came out of /between/ and flew on ahead. Just as B'drin was rounding the corner he heard Wavbird's excited chitter. He smiled as he looked over to Vykor usual fishing spot. There he stood, braced against the weight of his net. B'drin remembered bringing it to him on a previous trip. "Hey, I brought you a Turns End feast." He called.

Vykor had been struggling with the net for quite some time now and he almost had it out of the river. There must have been at least five good sized fish in there. Upon hearing the voice of his friend, he turned to greet him, but stepped on a slick patch of rock. The first thing he felt was his feet leave the ground and he reaffirmed that gravity was in fact still working. The second thing was intense pain as his head struck another rock. The third and final thing he felt was pure oblivion as everything went black.

B'drin's eyes went wide as he dropped the packages he held. He ran to his friends side. Vykor wasn't moving. He carefully lifted his friend's head and nearly dropped it again when he saw a bit of blood. He carefully lifted Vykor and carried him to his dragon.

}: What has happened? Why is Vykor asleep?:{ Lumyth questioned as his eyes began to swirl with the colors of worry.

**He hit his head. We need to get him to the weyr quick. We can't take him between though. You will have to fly fast.** He laid Vykor over his dragons foreleg as he held it up a bit. B'drin climbed up and turned to drag his friend up. He wasn't sure how he managed to get them both strapped and ready to go, but he did.
**okay Lum, Lets go.**

It took them only a few hands of time to get to the weyr but he could already feel the blood form his friends head on his shirt it was sticky. He had Lumyth land in the weyrbowl. Luckily there was another rider in the weyrbowl. With his help he got his friend down and ran him into the infirmary. "Please, I need some help here. Anyone?"

Wavebird started looking for the only other face he remembered in the Weyr. Upon finding her, he flew down and encompassed as much of her hair in his mouth as he could before trying to fly back to his human with the hair, and hopefully the rest of her, still with him.

Nocte was surprised and taken aback as she was dragged toward the infirmary. She found it hard to keep up. She slid into the room with a haggard look. Her eyes fell on B'drin as he stood in the center of the room. She noticed the man in his arms and her heart sank. Why was he carrying Vykor? Why wasn't Vykor moving? Nocte thought quick and sent Hope to help calm Wavebird.

Jynrek turned and hurried B'drin in the direction of a cot. "Here, lad. Set him down and tell me what's going on."

B'drin did as directed, "I went to take him few things and he was fishing. I called out to him and he slipped. He hit his head on a rock. When he didn't move I got worried." He stood back to allow the Healer to do what he could.

Nocte watched from the side. She was worried about his color. He was so pale. She reached up to pluck Wavebird from his perch and hold his trembling body. She didn't want him to suddenly go between. She dreaded what that would mean.

Jynrek nodded as he felt the back of Vykor's head with careful fingers. "How long has it been since the injury occurred? And has he regained consciousness at all?"

"Not long sir. No more than twenty or so minutes. I flew him straight her. And no he has not woken since it happened." B'drin looked on in worry.

"We'll want to get him stabilized," Jynrek replied finally, standing up and gesturing to a journeyman. "If you and the young lady could wait outside, we'll do a full examination. It may be some time until he wakes, though, so if you'd prefer to leave and have us send word, we can arrange that."

Just at that moment, Vykor coughed. A very weak moan of pain escaped his lips. His eyes remained closed for the moment.

Jynrek pointed toward the curtain. "Out, both of you," he said shortly. "Someone will be along to talk to you once we know something."

Several candlemarks later, a journeyman came out to see Nocte still waiting. "He is stabilized and resting for the moment. He hasn't spoken at all yet, and he has been in and out of consciousness. We will be monitoring him for the remainder of the evening. If everything seems all right in a few days, we will let him out, but only if everything seems all right. He will have to stay here through the Turn's End celebration, though, but I'm fairly sure he'll be able to accept visitors."

"Alright, can I sit with him?" Nocte asked anxiously. She had been pacing since she had been told to leave. She had sent B'drin back to his weyr. He was a mess. He was blaming himself and needed to have some time to himself. She hoped he would be all right.

The healer thought for a moment. "I don't see why not. He is awake at the moment, but I don't know how long he will stay that way. Perhaps a friendly face will help."

"Thank you sir." She walked in and moved a chair close to him. She sat quietly, afraid to say a word. She wanted him to rest but she also wanted him to wake up and tell her he was all right.

He heard someone come in and sit down next to him. Shards how his head still hurt, and he didn't know why. He shifted and opened his eyes to see which healer came to see him now. But it wasn't a healer. It was a woman. He felt like he should know her, but he was having enough problems. When he saw her excitement at him being awake, he thought it best to ask the question burning him up before too much time had passed.

"Excuse me, but who am I?"
