I've Learned My Lesson!

Description: Dantial checks up on G'len after the greenrider manages to burn himself trying to sneak into his sister's baking.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 27 of Turn 4

"Give it to me straight Journeyman," G'len said dramatically as he gave the healer examining his arm a wicked grin, "will I live?"

"I suppose that depends on if you're going to do anything life-threatening after you leave here," Dantial replied dryly, the corner of his mouth quirking up. "For the moment, your life seems to be in no danger, though."

"Whew" the greenrider exclaimed as he pretended to wipe sweat off his brow with his unburned arm. "That's a relief, I was worried I might be touch and go for a while there." He'd burnt his arm while snatching a treat from the racks in the kitchen. He was just going to go and slap some numbweed on it and forget about it, but his sister had insisted he get it looked at first by the healers. Dantial glanced up at the greenrider. "So are you going to tell me how you managed to burn the side of your arm, or is it a mystery?"

"More embarrassment than mystery there I'm afraid." G'len explained with a chuckle. "I just happen to have a fondness for sweet rolls, and the fact that they weren't quite finished... well, it didn't deter me."

"Oh, dear." Hiding a small smile, Dantial rose to his feet and went to fetch what he'd need to tend the burn. "Well, as a healer, I'm going to have to suggest waiting a bit longer in the future."

The greenrider chuckled again, "Don't worry, between this burn and my sister's scolding that included a rather large smack from her wood spoon... I think I've learned my lesson!"

"I would imagine so." Pulling a stool back, Dantial sat down and set his supplies down next to him. "Just stretch out your arm for me, and I'll take care of it."

G'len watched the man appreciatively as he tended to his arm. He slouched a bit much, but the greenrider could tell he was of fair height when he straightened himself up. What most caught his attention was Dantial's eyes. They were kind, and he'd fallen victim to dark eyes more than once. He could see the concentration and determination in them as they focused on his arm, and G'len wondered if it would be worth another burn just to have this much of the healers attention again...

The healer made quick work of the burn, finally wrapping a thin bandage around it. "I want you to wear this tonight so that you don't rub off all of the salve I put on it, but tomorrow you can take it off. If it starts to blister, or gets worse instead of better, come back and see me."

The greenrider finally took his eyes off the healer to examine his arm.
"You bet I will." he said with a wink. He'd better head back to his weyr and put on a long sleeved shirt. Nobody was going to think him dashing and irresistible tonight with a bandage that covered half his arm!
