Physical Description of Persona:
Dantial is tall and broad shouldered, but his light frame and a tendency to slouch gives many the impression that he's far shorter than he is. His features are strong, with a clean jaw and a ready smile. In spite of pronounced eyebrows, his dark eyes tend to be friendly and gentle, thick eyelashes that many a woman have envied giving them a soft look. His dark hair is just long enough to brush his shoulders, and is generally tied back from his face.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Dantial is a soft-spoken and gentle man who offers quiet courtesy to everyone he meets. Although he was raised to be conservative, he has nothing in particular against female crafters--but he feels far more protective of females and has a tendency to treat them as if they need the protection whether they want it or not. As far as anyone can tell, it is impossible to make Dantial lose his temper--his calm in the face of anything that can be thrown at him as made him a very good trauma healer. He has a knack for soothing fear in his patients--especially children.

History of Persona:
Growing up in the Healer Hall, Dantial spent most of his life being compared to his elder brother. Owadan was tall, strong, cheerful and outspoken--everything quiet and bookish Dantial was not. It would have been easy to resent his brother, but the two got along well enough, with Dantial planning their escapades with careful attention to detail and Owadan carrying them out with gleeful boldness. Although they both apprenticed as Healers, Owadan was Searched at fourteen, leaving Dantial behind at the Hall. The question of whether or not he could have gone with his brother was moot--Dantial had no desire to Impress a dragon or live life at the Weyr. Instead he settled down to study his craft, feeling vaguely proud when his brother Impressed a bronze dragon, but not in the least bit jealous.

Dantial did well in his studies, but it soon became clear that the work he really loved--the highly stressful but massively fulfilling task of pulling people back from the brink of death after a violent accident--was not something that many people found need to use at the Healer Hall. During one of his brother's visits, O'dan mentioned that there was plenty of trauma to deal with at the Weyr--successfully planting the seed in Dantial's mind.

No one was more surprised than Dantial when word came from Dolphin Cove that O'dan had become the new Weyrleader. Although he had a hard time imagining his carefree older brother leading anything more taxing than a party, he couldn't deny that there would never be a better time to transfer to the Weyr.
