I Could MoveIt with My Mouth

Writers: April, Kastaka
Date Posted: 9th March 2009

Characters: D'wol, K'sen
Description: K'sen comes across D'wol's feline sunning on a rock.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 18 of Turn 5

D'wol wandered the weyrbowl in search of his new little feline. She had snuck out of his weyr to go explore her new home and he worried for her. She was so small she could easily get hurt.

Sandy had found a place to lay in the sun. She stretched out showing her tummy and looking far too cute for her own good.

}: What's one of these? :{ asked Sarath, extending her dainty muzzle in the general direction of the small furry creature which had invaded her favourite drying patch.

K'sen came hurrying over to see what she'd found. "Oh, it's a kitten!" he exclaimed in relief as he noticed what she was pointing at. They'd had a pair of felines who lived in the barns and kept the vermin down, and the kittens they'd sold from them had always been adorable, although rather differently marked than this one.

}: It is in my drying place, :{ complained Sarath. }: I like that rock. It is flat and warm and just the right size. Are you ignoring me? :{

But K'sen was busy fuzzing the kitten's tummy, as it obviously desired, and cooing gently. "I'm sure its owner will be back for it soon," he assured his dragon, "and we can hardly move it till then, can we?"

}: I could move it in my mouth, :{ suggested Sarath darkly, but she settled down in a nearby patch of sunlight and dripped sulkily at K'sen instead.

Sandy allowed him to pet her for a while then jumped down. She walked over to the young green dragon and rubbed her head along her side. Sandy was used to her persons larger brown and the two small ones. She liked attention. Any attention.

D'wol noticed the weyrling and his green and smiled. Leave it to sandy to find a new friend. He chuckled as he walked up to them and watched his little fuzz ball try to get the green to give her attention.

}: It is _touching_ me, :{ complained Sarath in a disgruntled tone mingled with slight distress, edging away from the furry creature. }: Are you sure I can't eat it? It looks very tasty. :{

"Now now, girl," muttered K'sen, who hadn't noticed D'wol yet, "no eating people's pets." He bent down to get a closer look at the feline and hopefully entice it away from his dragon. "Here, little one," he tried, "come away from the nice dragon, there's a good kitten."

Sandy looked at him and cocked her head to the side. Should she allow him to grace her with attention? She sat and started to lick a paw and run it over her whiskers. She did this for a few moments until she caught the sent of someone she knew. She suddenly stood and pranced over to D'wol purring as she circled his legs. "Sandy are you antagonizing this poor green?" He smiled as he scooped her up. "I'm sorry if she has been bothering you. She can be quiet a mystery at times."

"No trouble," replied K'sen with somewhat feigned friendliness. "Sarath's a bit precious about things touching her, that's all."

}: Small fuzzy things should not be allowed to wander around loose in a Weyr, :{ opined Sarath.

"You might want to be careful nothing eats her, though," added K'sen as an afterthought.

D'wol smiled as he gently petted her. "I'll be sure to do that. She snuck out when a visitor forgot to close the door. I'm still getting used to having the little one in my life. Thank you for sharing your attention with her." He nodded. "And i am sorry to you lovely Sarath if she caused you any discomfort. I will be sure to keep a better hold on her from now on."

}: Tell him it is nothing, but if I see her again I might not be able to restrain myself from eating her, :{ warned Sarath in a tone which failed to be entirely serious.

"She says it's nothing, not to worry about it," conveyed K'sen.

D'wol smiled and nodded as he turned to go. He glanced at teh ball of fur in his arms. "And you young lady need to stay in my home and stop wandering off. Next time you may not be so lucky." Sandy just purred.
