"Hello darling." Irlani pecked J'gen upon his cheek as she carried the last
bag into the new bedroom. The new weyr was larger, enough to fit all of
them comfortably and give them a bit more breathing room. She had expected
things to move in that direction and was delighted they finally had. The
woman then slipped out onto the ledge to take a good look at the new view.

"Mmmm..." he slipped his arms around her waist and leaned his chin on her
shoulder, "promise you'll greet me like that every day?" he said gruffly in
her ear.

"As long as I'm not annoyed at you." Irlani agreed with a hint of amusement
in her voice. "I can't guarantee that sort of greeting if you annoy me."

"Well you'll just have to give me fair warning, when I am about to annoy
you." he chuckled softly in her ear. "So, how's the reorganising going?" he
asked, "I see Gyta has disappeared into her room."

"Ah, but she deserves a break." Irlani assured her as she relieved the bag
of its contents and began to fill the drawers with her things. "She's been
a big help, especially while Ravyan was with us."

"I think she enjoys having someone younger than her around." he smiled, he
hadn't missed the way his daughter behaved around the child. "When we
thought she was to have a younger sibling..." his voice trailed off, not
wishing to dredge up sad memories of Syrita.

Irlani turned to let her hand run tenderly down his arm. She gave him a
small smile, then resumed her work. "Well, Ravyan certainly keeps us
entertained and on our toes."

"Now that Gyta's talking again and contiuning with her harper lessons, have
you considered taking on another foster child?" he asked softly, not wishing
to upset her, but seeing how much she enjoyed time with the children. It
was a shame she had been unable to have children of her own, she was well
suited to motherhood.

"Not at the moment." Irlani filled one drawer then moved on to the next.
"For now I'll concentrate on Ravyan for a while and then see how things go."

"The decision is yours, you just seem to enjoy your work so much I thought
you may like to take on another."

"That is very likely." Irlani _did_ enjoy her work, J'gen was right about
that. "But I want to get settled first, then I'll see."

"Whatever you decide will be fine with me." he slipped his arm around her
again, "I have something inside for you..." he said, bestowing a brief kiss
on her ear. "I asked the woodcrafters to make it for you when you agreed to
move in with us."

"You did?" Irlani forgot her draw for a moment and turned into J'gen. "You
didn't have to get me anything."

"No I didn't have to, but... I wanted to." he covered her eyes as they
walked through the dragon cavern of their quarters.

"Did you think I was going to peek?" Irlani asked in amusement, though she
didn't protest and allowed him to lead her.

"I want it to be a surprise, is all." J'gen replied with a laugh. "And yes,
I suspect you may peek as I'm leading you. Human nature and all that." He
angled her into the living area of their quarters and looked proudly at the
rocking chair that took pride of place in the room. The crafters had done
wonders with the hardened wood he had chosen. He just hoped Irlani would be
as pleased with the piece as he was. "Okay, turn around and face me," he
instructed as he helped her to maintain her balance, "and just trust me and
hold onto my hands as you sit."

"Why should I trust a man who doesn't trust me not to peek?" There was no
seriousness in Irlani's voice, however, as she complied with his
instructions. Her hands clasped J'gen's lightly as she slowly lowered
herself into the chair. She didn't look until she was settled, then laughed
in delight. "It's lovely! Just lovely!"

"You like it?" J'gen's eye twinkled as he met her gaze. "I asked them to
make it so that you can either sit still or rock - as the urge takes you."
he explained, moving behind the chair, "There're two stoppers back here
that can slip over the back of the rockers and hold the chair steady." he
explained, rolling them back so the chair rocked softly back and forth.

"How clever!" Irlani had never seen a rocker such as that, but it was a
nice thing to have as rocking wasn't always needed. "You are so thoughtful.
What made you think of this?"

"I've seen you sitting on the couch trying to settle the little one, and
figured this may make it easier. I also saw another one being made a few
sevendays ago and thought you may like one too."

"I think one is plenty, thank you." Irlani stood back up to peck J'gen on
the cheek. "It's sweet how you always think of me."

He chuckled at her miscontruing of his words, "You're always on my mind, and
now this will prove it." he reached out and tugger her into an embrace. "I
have become very attached to you."

"Is that so?" Irlani pressed her lips gently against J'gen's. "I guess
you're kind of growing on me."
