Physical Description of Persona:
The first thing one notices about Ristaliys is his towering height of 6' 6". The second thing would be his a muscular physique. He tops out at 235 pounds, most of it muscle due to his craft as a smith. He has a dimple in the middle of his chin and when he smiles he sports a pair of them, one in each cheek. His eyes are a shade of hazel that, at first glance, look like an olive green but have unexpected flecks of brown and gold that can be seen if one gets up close. Ristaliys's hair is a medium brown that has a slight upturn at the ends. When he's out in the sun, his highlights come out, showing red and gold that are mixed in there. He tends to wear it in a longer cut, around the nape of his neck. He used to wear it shorter as a kid but learned that it was a mess of flyaways he could never tame, so grew it out. His skin is the color of toffee that gets more golden the more he is in the sun. As a kid, he had a band of freckles that stretched from one cheek to the other across the bridge of his nose and as an adult, it only shows up when he's spent hours in the sun. He has several burn scars on his arms and hands from his work as a metal smith and his hands are covered in callouses from his work.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Ristaliys is a hard working individual. He likes to be the best at whatever he does, so will push himself as hard as he can until he can't give any more. He is respectful to those in authority, but is not a yes-man. If he disagrees with something, he will disagree with his whole heart, unless the other side of the argument can give him a convincing argument to change his mind. When it comes to rules, he understands that they are there for a reason. Rules are there to be followed, but understands that some rules may have to be bent, in order to be followed properly. He also thinks that some rules may even be up to interpretation, when it comes to following them.

When it comes to wooing, he's a spontaneous romantic. He will randomly bring a lover gifts, or a treat, something to make them smile. He's affectionate with his lovers, and is very tactile. He likes holding hands, hugging, little caresses, that sort of thing. He's the type of guy that no gesture of love is too big or too small for him to do. He's the type that, once he realizes he realizes he's in love with that person, will show up at their door just for a random picnic. One of his favorite things to do is to watch the sun rise and set. He loves watching the colors changing in the sky. If he considers someone a friend, they won't find a more loyal person. Once one finds themselves in his circle, he is a staunch defender and supporter. It takes a lot to make him angry. Most of the time, it will look like he's letting things slide, but what he is actually doing is taking it in so he can think about what happened later. The same thing happens when he gets sad.

One of the things he discovered recently that he likes to do is to to read horrible poetry. The worse they are, the more they make him laugh.

History of Persona:
His father was a fisherman in Sunstone Seahold, his mother was a fishmonger. He has two older brothers and a sister. One of his brothers followed in his father's footsteps and became a fisherman when he was of age. Ristaliys was never told how his other brother died, but he thought it might have had something to do with dragons. His father changed when he received word that it happened and started blaming dragonriders for everything that went wrong. Not enough fish in the nets? Dragonriders' fault. Too much wind? Dragonrider's fault. Sun wasn't shining? Dragonriders' fault. Everything that went wrong with his father's life was because of dragonriders, and Ristaliys pretty much ignored it. After all, dragons couldn't control the rain. . .could they?

As a child, Ristaliys hated fishing. He hated everything about it, from catching to cleaning. He never wanted to touch the dead, slimy things that were his father's livelihood. By the time he was ten turns old, Ristaliys had come to the conclusion that he was never going to be a fisherman, like his father wanted to. Fishing repulsed him. Fish repulsed him. He was happy his father was happy as a fisherman, but knew the life wasn't for him. Instead, he would always be hanging around the smiths who were creating things with red-hot metal. It was there that the idea was brought to him that he should be a smith, since he was always around anyway. The younger smith only meant it as a joke, but it sparked the boy's interest like fishing never did.

When he brought it up that he wanted to try his hand at smithing, his father balked and outright commanded the boy be a fisherman. The resulting conversation turned into a shouting match between them that would be repeated many times as Ristaliys grew older. Ristaliys never wanted to be around fish, and his father thought that all he knew how to do was fish. Neither one would change their mind. It finally came down to Ristaliys' mother to fix the problem, and she knew they were both stubborn. She explained to his father that the boy would never be a fisherman, despite him wanting his son to follow in his footsteps. She made him realize that, while Ristaliys wouldn't be following the same path, he would be contributing to the traditions, since someone had to make the anchors that held the nets. So, Ristaliys was apprenticed to the smiths of Sunstone Seahold, with blessings from both of his parents.

He spent most of his teenage years with the smiths learning all he could. Ristaliys hit a growth spurt at thirteen that launched him into the stratosphere in a few years. He was what one would call a "beanpole," as he was taller than he was muscular. However, at seventeen, he noticed he was finally getting muscles instead of growing taller. This brought attention from the females of the Hold. Ristaliys noticed them back and had girlfriends, but every now and then, he would have the same kinds of thoughts about the male members of the Hold that he had about the girls. He couldn't make heads or tails of those thoughts, and nobody ever talked about those sorts of things. Everybody knew boys had to eventually turn into men and get married and have sons. That was the way of things. He assumed every boy had the same thoughts that he did, so they were natural to him. So he looked and appreciated men, but never acted on them. He thought he was being discreet about his interests.

When he turned eighteen, he earned his journey knots. That same night, a gang of about ten or twelve of the boys that lived in the Hold cornered him. They threw accusations at Ristaliys about his sexuality, and how he should be a greenrider. Ristaliys couldn't deny that he was as attracted to men as he was to women, so he didn't say anything. The boys took his silence as an affirmation and jumped him. With as big as he was, he knew that if he had fought back, he would have ended up severely hurting them, so he didn't fight back. It took several of the boys to bring him down. Once he was down, they beat him until he passed out. The last thing he remembers about the fight was one of the boys holding a knife and threatening a certain part of his anatomy being sliced off.

When he came to, it was in the middle of the night. He knew that it must have been a while since he had been beaten, since some of the blood had dried from where his nose had bled. He knew he had to go somewhere where he wouldn't be persecuted for his sexuality, somewhere he could be free. He returned back to his rooms, stuffed a few changes of clothes into a pack and went to River Bluff Weyr for protection.

While at the Weyr, he met a greenrider who he had a brief fling with and convinced him to petition the Weyrwoman for candidacy, as the greenrider believed he had potential. He stood for a few clutches and had yet to find his lifemate when disaster struck the Weyr. He was taken to Dolphin Cove Weyr and has been living there for the past turn.
