Name: K'valas
Age: 22
Birthday: m12 d28
Rank: Junior Weyrling
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Physical Description of Persona:
K'valas is built like a man who has fought for every scrap of his survival. Broad-shouldered and thick with muscle, the kind forged from hard labor rather than careful training. His frame is solid, his arms and chest powerful, his hands calloused from years of rough work, brawling, and gripping whatever weapon or tool would keep him alive. His hair is long and wild, thick brown-blond waves that fall past his shoulders, often tangled from days on the road. A rough beard frames his face, accentuating the sharp line of his jaw and the set of his strong, weathered features. His skin is marked by the life he’s lived; old scars crossing his forearms and knuckles, fresh scrapes and bruises darkening beneath a layer of dust and grime. His eyes, a striking contrast to the brute strength of his build, are keen and calculating, always watching, always measuring risk. There’s no softness in them, only the hardened wariness of a man who trusts little and expects even less.
His clothes are well-worn and practical, layers of thick fabric meant to withstand the elements. A simple cord necklace rests against his collarbone, its pendant long since lost or discarded, but he still wears it out of habit, one last tie to a past long left behind.
Emotional Description of Persona:
K'valas is a man who expects betrayal, prepares for hardship, and trusts in nothing but his own strength. K'valas has a quiet intensity, hardened by a life that has given him little reason to trust and even less reason to hope. He speaks little, preferring to observe rather than engage, but when he does, his words are blunt and to the point. He has no patience for pretense or wasted breath. Survival has taught him that sentiment is a liability, and so he buries his emotions deep, masking them behind a guarded exterior.
Pragmatic to the core, K'valas doesn’t waste time on ideals. He does what needs to be done, whether that means stealing, lying, or fighting. Guilt is a luxury he can’t afford. But while he may act ruthlessly, there is a quiet code beneath it all; he has little tolerance for cruelty, especially against those who can’t fight back. Although he comes across as gruff and unapproachable, K'valas is not without a sense of loyalty. Once someone earns his trust, which is no easy feat, he is unwavering in his commitment to them. Trust is a fragile thing with him, easily lost and rarely given.
History of Persona:
There's not much to be known about K'valas' early years at Shadow Mountain Hold. As the second son of a family of drudges, he was never meant to be more than that. His ever-growing family didn't have much time for him, and he spent most of his childhood at harper lessons or underfoot with the other holdbrats until he was old enough to work. He learned early to keep his head down, to endure the endless chores, and to avoid drawing too much attention to himself.
But there was one thing he couldn't suppress; his need for something more. When he was sixteen, that need led him to stolen moments in the dark with another boy, a brief reprieve from the unrelenting weight of his life. He should have been more careful. They should have both been more careful. When the boy's father found them in the barn, it was chaos. The man was screaming, the boy was crying, and K'valas -- panicked, terrified -- acted without thinking. He didn't mean to, but by the time the shouting had drawn others, the man was dead.
There was no trial, no chance to explain. His family turned their backs on him. He was dragged before the Hold’s Lord, accused of perversion, of murder, of bringing shame to the Hold. Before the end of the day, he was cast out, given barely enough time to gather a few meager belongings before the doors were closed behind him.
The road was hard, and K'valas learned quickly how to survive. Some holds would take him in for a few days' work, but there was always the risk of questions. He learned to move often, to keep his past buried. Honest work was scarce, and he had no trade beyond the drudge work he’d been born into. So he stole when he had to, lied when he needed to, and when things were especially dire, he did whatever was necessary to get by.
Then he met Aegaryn. Another holdless man, sharp-eyed and quicker with a blade than K'valas had ever been. Their meeting wasn’t friendly; K'valas tried to steal from him and ended up with a knife at his throat. But instead of killing him or turning him in, Aegaryn just laughed. There was something easy about the way he moved, the way he took in K'valas' ragged desperation and saw an opportunity instead of a threat.
They became an inseparable pair after that. Aegaryn taught him the finer points of survival, like how to pick pockets without getting caught, how to size up a mark, how to slip away unseen when things went sideways. More than that, he became K'valas' first real friend.
They’d been staying at the holdless encampment for only a few days, just planning to wait out the next Threadfall before moving on. But the freezing rain had come in fast, turning the ground into a flooded, frozen mire. They'd gotten caught in the worst of it, drenched and shivering, with nowhere to go. And now, not for the first time since he'd been thrown from Shadow Mountain Hold, K'valas was staring down the real possibility of not making it through the night.
K'valas spent the winter and spring at Dragonsfall Weyr, pulling his own weight by working with the beastcrafters looking after the Weyrs herds. He was Searched by G'zan and, after lots of talking with Aegaryn, became a candidate. Already pushing the age limits, K'valas Impressed green Sazikoth at the only hatching he was eligible for: Galgaith's first clutch.

Dragon's Name: Sazikoth
Dragon's Age: 0
Dragon's Hatching Date: m12 d14
Dragon's Colour: Green
Description of Dragon:
She's beauty and she's grace.
She's also hunting you for sport.
Sazikoth is a large, striking green. Her hide is a lovely shade of dark, mossy green, with just a dash of lighter mottling along her snout and down her back. She's thick at first, but will grow into a sleek and graceful green, entirely built for speed and surprise. There's something undeniably wild about her; an energy that flickers just beneath the hide. Sazikoth is a creature of instinct-- bold and fearless, she hatched full of restless energy and curiosity. The bond with K'valas changed her and much as it changed him. She is still all those things, but now her fire is focused on them. She is his and he is hers, and she will defend what's hers from anything either of them deem a threat. She can still be playful, of course, and often is, though she sometimes gets in trouble for playing too rough, but there's a wariness that lingers in her now. She knows too well what danger looks like.
