Physical Description of Persona:
Even as an adult with a soft squareness to his jaw, J'lyas will always look too boyish to be taken seriously. He stands at 5’6 with a scrappy, defensive set to his posture. His green eyes are critical and observant, always looking for the next attack. He likes to keep his brown hair in shaggy waves. His tenor singing voice is way bigger than his little body. His favorite wardrobe colors are blues and blacks.

Emotional Description of Persona:
It should come as no surprise that J'lyas is the product of Turns of overbearing parents and bullies. He is sassy, picky, and defensive, quick to use a cutting word because throwing a punch never really ended well for him. A lifetime of people telling him what to do or picking on nearly every aspect of him has led to him feeling like he’s unloved and unwanted, never good enough. He’d love for people to just leave him alone.

Get past his barriers and there’s a bright mind that comes up with creative solutions for things. He’s passionate about his hobbies -- he’ll talk for hours about them if given the chance. He doesn’t consider himself courageous but he knows that he’s supposed to do the right thing even if it sucks (let’s be honest, doing the right thing usually sucks). He’ll at least try to be a good person until it backfires on him.

History of Persona:
Born in the middle of the pack of a children at a relatively small Hold, Juvelyas was the tiniest kid growing up and everyone reminded him of that every day. From an overbearing mother who tried to get him to eat more in order to grow taller (that didn’t work) or brothers who tried to show him how to fight back (and then laughed when he still got his butt kicked) to the same three bullies who always got a stern talking to but never stopped picking on him, Juvelyas’s young life was full of a sense of never feeling safe, physically or emotionally.

Since he couldn’t leave, he apprenticed into one of the few Crafts available to him -- tailoring -- because at least during those hours working, no one bothered him and his teacher. Not that his teacher was any less critical of Juvelyas’s handiwork but at least that was something that he could control and improve through practice. It should have come as no surprise that when a Searchdragon arrived at their little Hold and offered Juvelyas a way out that he took it without hesitation.

On his first Hatching, Braxialth walked right up to him, cementing his stay at the Weyr.
