Physical Description of Persona:
Jio is 5'10" tall with an athletic build. He keeps his dark blonde at shoulder length. Jio is also fond of his reddish beard, which he keeps neatly trimmed. He grew it originally as extra protection against the winter, but it remains to be seen if he will keep it. His greatest feature is his warm and happy smile, which many find contaigous. Another noticable characteristic is his grey eyes, which reflect merriment with a hint of mischief.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Jio is by no means perfect He is sensitive, kind, affectionate, and intelligent. Whenever a friend is in distress, he is the first to lend a hand, ear, or shoulder. He is the one at the party floating around making sure that everyone is having a good time, with his exuberant, infectious smile. However, Jio loves being the center of attention and can become quite competitive. Rather than admitting when his feelings are hurt, Jio has a tendency to lash out at the other person, often regretting having done so, but rarely owning up to it. He also battles against his semi-compulsive lying, a habit he developed in his trouble-making youth. He tries not to lie, but sometimes he finds they just slip out, usually in protection of himself or of another person's feelings. Whenever he gets caught in a lie, he is known to tell another to cover the first, not wanting the embarrassment of admitting his flaw. It does have its good qualities in that it has made him a great actor, spy, keeper of secrets, and an especially good poker player. Despite his obvious faults, Jio is a good, loyal, and caring friend who is well liked and trusted.

History of Persona:
Jio was born to a family of minor holders on the far side of the southern continent of Pern. He was well liked and respected by the other boys at the hold, and, as a result, was looked to as the group's natural leader. Using his intelligence, curious nature, and natural acting skills, he lead the group into all kinds of trouble. His mother once said of her son that he would someday either be a bandit, a pirate, or captain of the guard.

Once, the day before a gather when he was 10 turns old, he and his mates broke into the wine cellar of the hold to see what kind of trouble theycould get into. Spying all the bottles of wine brought in especially for the festivities, the boys decided to sample a few. Between them they drank three bottles of the intoxicants, marveling at the taste that was unlike any other they had yet experienced, not to mention their intoxicating effects. Not only did he and the boys suffer the wrath of the steward who found them drinking the most expensive wine marks could buy, they each had a terrific hang-over. It was an experience the young Jio never forgot.

Spending most of his harper-class days under one punishment or another, with what seemed to be a contempt for learning and authoritarian structure, he shocked his parents when he one day walked into their family residence and announced his intentions to become a vintner. His parents were so pleased that Jio was willing to join a respectable profession that they gave no opposition and got him to the hall as soon as his harper-classes finished. There Jio learned discipline and hard work along with his vintner studies. Very early on he caught the eye of Master Ephrim, a teacher in search of a student to shape and mold to assist him in his experiments with using wines to make medicines.

After turns of faithfully serving his master, Jio realized he had absorbed as much as he could. At the age of 23, Jio asked his Hall Master for a transfer across the southern continent to the Amythest Cliff Hold Vintner Hall. There he hoped to further Master Ephrim's experiments using herbs and fruits native to the area, as well as expand on them with his own ideas. He saw this as a perfect opportunity for advancement and challenge, as well as a change of scenery. A turn later he was granted his transfer to the Vintner Hall in Amethyst Cliff Hold to continue working towards his Master knots and impart his knowledge to his new colleagues. And so he journeyed over land and sea to the Amethyst Cliff Hold Vintner Hall in search of a new start.

When he reached the Vintner Hall, he soon met and fell for a fostermother named Miryene. She was in love with another man whom she married not long after Jio's arrival. He tried to remain her friend and support her through her rocky marriage, and dicey pregnancy. It soon came to light that she had been beaten by her husband, and when he was confronted he apparently fled, abandoning his pregnant wife. Jio quickly stepped up and agreed to be married to her, knowing that she was still in love with Jhonnel, but hoping that eventually she would come to love him instead. On the day of the great Amethyst Cliff Earthquake, Miryene finally gave birth to a baby boy, whome she named after them both - Mio. Now Jio has a true family to look after, and must learn to adjust to the responsibilities he now has.

Pomace, Brown Firelizard: aged 11, hatched m3 d22
Pom is a rich, earthy brown color. He is generally well behaved. His favorite activity is chasing things - especially insects, felines, and female flits.

Mulch, Blue Firelizard: aged 9, hatched m7 d22
He was named for his habit of sleeping spread out, much like the mulch around the vines. Mulch often can be found following around his sire, Pomace, or his hatch-mate Ivy. That is, when he isn't sleeping or eating the day away.
