Physical Description of Persona:
B'rail is short and stocky, standing only 5'7" in height. He is heavy for his size, as he weighs 156 pounds. He is broad shouldered and barrel chested, in contrast to the lean, sleek physique of his dragon. He has light brown hair, which he wears close-cropped, making it seem almost blond. His eyes are hazel, almost hidden sometimes under thick eyebrows.

Emotional Description of Persona:
B'rail is a very reserved person, keeping mostly to himself. He is very matter of fact about his homosexuality, as his being a bluerider makes it impossible to hide. Otherwise, he hides it as much as possible, even going so far as to try to stay away from other men as much as possible. His main companion is Kazuth, who takes his rider's idosyncracies in stride. One of his main joys in life is midwifery. Not only is he good at it, he has an uncanny empathy for the mothers.

History of Persona:
B'rail, once Barrail, was born to Barresh, a smithcrafter assigned to River Bluff Weyr, and a greenrider, Hariana. Barrail led a relatively normal life until his father was transferred away when Barrail was 6 Turns old. Barrail was very attached to his father, and it was a long time before he got over the loss. At age 13 he apprenticed to the Healer Hall. While he enjoyed healing, his personal life was not so great.

It was becoming very obvious that he wasn't exactly normal. Instead of having the more accepted infatuations and crushes of the maturing boy, he started being attracted to men. Used to acceptance of this fact from his turns in the Weyr, he was totally unprepared for the wave of teasing, abuse and discrimination that followed him admitting his preference.

Still he persevered, and finally walked the tables to become a journeyman. Soon afterwards, he was called back to the Weyr to stand at a hatching. Much to Barrail's suprise, he Impressed Kazuth, a blue, becoming B'rail.

Now, even though he is a good, dutiful dragonrider, and a skilled healer, he isolates himself for fear of the kind of rejection he experienced at the Healer Hall. But, the kind acceptance of the other dragonriders and the Weyrfolk his slowly drawing him out of his shell.

Description of Dragon:
Kazuth is very agile even for a blue dragon, and he is colored a deep bluish-purple. He wants to fly a green or two, but has been stopped by his rider's fear of that kind of interaction. Nevertheless, he cares for his rider very much, and tries to take his riders eccentricities calmly. But, he isn't above trying to set his rider up, in an attempt to get him to become more outgoing.
