Physical Description of Persona:
Lineal is a noticeably good-looking man. Very tall, long-legged, and heavily muscled, his body is impressive, and his fine-featured face with high, sharp cheekbones is memorable. In colouring he is all brown-tones; dark-brown hair bleached lighter by the sun, even mid-brown skin and eyes of a slightly darker colour. There is something magnetic about Lineal, even before he smiles, but when he does his face lights up and people are naturally drawn to him.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Lineal is the product of his happy childhood and has the nature of the mother he can't remember. He's sweet-tempered and kindly and, although aware of his looks and attractiveness, is too well mannered to take advantage of it. His failing in the eyes of his craft is his penchant for negotiating when orders would be more suitable but that, too, is a reflection of his upbringing.

History of Persona:
Lineal grew up on board the family-run riverboat Sungazer on the Nettleweed River. The very communal life on board the riverboat meant that the death of his mother before he was walking didn't make much difference to his life. His father, the captain, was still there, and there were always plenty of aunties and cousins who were happy to look after him.

Lineal's life aboard the Sungazer was secure and happy but at the end of every downriver run his interest was caught by the other ships in the harbour - those sea-going ones who wouldn't just be paddling up and down the same river forever. At 13 he convinced his father to allow him to apprentice as a seacrafter and set out on his great adventure to learn his craft and finally go further afield than the Nettleweed River.

After Turns of seeing the coastal byways of Pern Lineal saw the irony of settling in on a ship plying a Southern Continent coastal route - 'there and back again' just like his childhood. In favour of the fairly regular route was his relationship with Rahona, a lower caverns worker at River Bluff Weyr. Their relationship quickly became a permanent arrangement and then a family as first a son, and then a daughter, were born to them.

In early Turn 4 Lineal had word from his father that the captaincy of the Riverboat Sungazer was his if he wanted it. He did want it - but it
mattered more whether Rahona would move herself and their children and settle on a family-run riverboat working the navigable portions of the Nettleweed River. Eventually Rahona decided she would and the family moved across the continent to make their new life on the Sungazer.
