Persona Profile: G'van (Inactive)

Writer: Kastaka

Name: G'van
Age: 42
Birthday: m5 d8
Rank: Wingrider, Hurricane Wing
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

Physical Description of Persona:
Floppy dark brown hair, striking blue eyes, and smooth tan skin - G'van obviously thinks quite highly of his appearance and looks after it carefully. He's averagely tall with the standard dragonrider's muscular physique, and knows how to wear his clothes and riding leathers to flatter that.

Emotional Description of Persona:
G'van is a spoilt weyrbrat who never grew up. He likes having copious no-strings sex, showing off, and boasting. He doesn't understand the value of hard work and still thinks he can get by with a roguish smile and natural talent. The sad thing is, most of the time he can, which isn't going to teach him otherwise...

History of Persona:
Born at an out-of-the-way Weyrhold in the islands, Garavan never wanted for anything in his childhood. His foster mother was overworked, but his parents and their friends continually treated and spoiled him, the kitchen staff doted on him, and in general his adorable smile could get him anything.

Any talk of him needing to settle down and find a Craft was pre-empted by Gheleth, who fell out of his egg at the first Hatching that Garavan attended and chose him as rider at the tender age of twelve. Whilst most riders at the time did some kind of useful duty as well as looking after their dragon, even after weyrlinghood was distinctly over Garavan got away with his only responsibility being occasional positions on the sweepriding and watch rotas.

Gheleth soon demonstrated why he'd chosen G'van by winning many of the games and competitions that had evolved from Thread drills in the weyrhold, and a few years later by catching more than his fair share of the weyrhold's green dragons. G'van had an excellent, intuitive grasp of aerial manoevering and positioning. Even so, the more conservative elements muttered quietly that it hardly made up for his many social failings, as he cheerfully disregarded authority figures and broke hearts throughout the weyrhold and the surrounding countryside.

Finally the clutches started increasing and Thread loomed large on the horizon. At first look, G'van seemed very useful in Fall - it was an exciting new game for him, and one he was naturally adept at. But then he started to show his true colours - dangerous overconfidence, disregard for the command structure - and eventually these factors culminated in a fatal accident with his wingsecond.

G'van's charm meant that not everyone at the Weyr blamed him for the accident, but when word went out that Dolphin Cove were short on riders, G'van was almost as glad to get out of the newly poisonous atmosphere of his home Weyr as the Weyr were to get rid of him...

Dragon's Name: Gheleth
Dragon's Age: 30
Dragon's Hatching Date: m7 d9
Dragon's Colour: Brown
Description of Dragon:
Gheleth is a very laid-back brown. Everything he does speaks of economy of movement and effort, although this doesn't stop him pulling off some quite surprising feats of agility for a medium-sized dragon when he puts his mind to it. He's a rich dark chocolate brown and staunchly medium sized, although heavily built with it.

He conscientiously defends his rider's habits and actions, apologising for him when he knows G'van won't, although often he tries to talk G'van out of his worst excesses and is often saddened and confused that other people seem to think he made a bad choice.
