Physical Description of Persona:
Kelwin is average height for a boy there is no getting around it he stands at 5'7 and while he may grow another inch before he stops growing for good it still won't make him the tallest lad. His body is also well toned with broad shoulders and is body leans towards wiry but there is strength to him that comes from his trade and the hard work he does as a Candidate. For someone of his height he has a long torso and his limbs are long and well muscled hinting at the speed of him. He often jokes that one must catch him first. He also has strong broad hands with a crooked middle and index finger from being broken on his right hand and long fingers that are well calloused from his trade as well. His arms, hands and shoulders are also covered in burns and small scars gained from his trade as a Smith.

Looks wise he is boyishly cute rather than handsome and tends to wear his fair hair cut short framing his face and well formed head with a longer fringe to hang over and hide his eyes. His eyes are dark green and are usually hidden by his fringe it is the only way he hides. He knows while he's learned to control his expressions from changing with his emotions his eyes still betray him.

His skin naturally tends toward fair but due to the outdoor nature of many of his Candidate chores his exposed skin is tanned leading to tan lines. His face is a long oval with chiselled cheekbones, a square jaw and chin and a smallish nose. Like his sister he has a small mole or beauty spot but his is on his upper right cheekbone. His lips are full and slightly pink and he has a somewhat crooked boyish smile thanks to a chipped front tooth. He is also left handed and can whistle almost any tune on Pern and copy flits, so it almost looks like he's talking to Dusk at times. He tends to be like to be clean, smell nice and to be dressed nicely. He favours bold striking designs and colours in the clothing he chooses and tends to like being well dressed and to be seen in clean, neat clothes - no wrinkled tunics or dirty, old socks for him. Like the rest of his family he too can sing in a powerful tenor and can dance well. He also still continues with his hobby, a craft and skill he inherited from his mother, making his own trinket jewellery, which he keeps, gives away or sells depending on his mood. He wears a thick dark toned rawhide necklace strung with a sharp fish teeth and small, wooden beads of varying colours, it was a gift from his mother.

Emotional Description of Persona:
He can be stubborn, passionate, brave, daring and fearless. He is happy take up a dare or prank or ride to someone's rescue living for adventure and fun.

He is something of a free spirit he seems to be always laughing, has a proud bearing and keeps his head high despite the fact he has at times endured the hard side of bullying for his size and'girly' 'soft' personality, something he couldn't hide in the Hold or craft he was brought up in. He has learned to defend himself with both fists when necessary and it does at time combine with his temper make him a little hasty and violent about acting out when he's offended or feels slighted.

It seems he marches to his own drummer while the rest of Pern stands in amazement, many don't understand him he does a lot of crazy stunts as he likes to feel alive and enjoy the moment On the other side he is neat, well organised, practical and forward thinking, he isn't one for dwelling on the moment too much but he does mull things and problems over in his spare time.

Strength: He is well organised, neat and practical with a keen intelligence and he is forward thinking so he is often thinking up ways to do things better, faster and more efficiently. He can be counted on to be reliable and be astute with his observations on people and events. He doesn't tolerate bullies at all and is fiercely loyal to those he regards as a friend particuarly those who are also being bullied.

Weaknesses: He is easily bored and gets restless when nothing is happening or times are quiet, he is one can go looking for trouble when he's not better occupied. His temper and hasty way of taking offence and reacting to things can create problems as he is often in trouble for getting into fist fights when he's defending himself or a friend.

At the moment grief and sadness have given the usually carefree, cheerful lad a dark, brooding quality that didn't use to be there. But it only tends to show when he is alone and thinks he is being unobserved. He doesn't want his sister in particular, to worry about him or people to poke at his pain preferring to be left to deal with it and heal on his own, in his own way.

History of Persona:
Both Kelwin (known as Kel to his family) and his younger sister Raen were surprises to their parents when they arrived late in time but grew up to be close good friends.

Their mother Dercee a wife and mother was 30 when she had her babies and his father Derrach a Master Smith was 35 at the time and stationed at Sunstone Seahold. Both had given up hope of having children as they had tried for a long time but gave up but as often happens when a couple gives up Dercee found herself pregnant and giving birth to babies close together, only a turn seperates brother and sister. Late though they were two children couldn't have been more appreciated and were showered in attention and love.

Despite this he was raised in a well run, well organised tight ship of a household. From the time he could walk he understood his role, was assigned duties and tasks to do as benefited his age and size. Growing up this gave him a deep appreciation for organisation and for doing one's part to help out. But when he wasn't working he was running wild with his sister on his heels, they pair did everything together growing up the best of friends. When not doing that he spent time with his mother and this where he acquired his hobby. His mother made little trinklet jewellery as a hobby mostly using trips of rawhide which she would thread with beads, coral, shells and bits of semi-precious stones. Mostly she did it for fun but would often gift them to her children, friends or family members at times too.

As is often the case he got into a bit of bullying for this and some of his less then masculine traits such as liking to be neat and clean, favouring bright colours and staying close to his younger sister or mother. His father quickly began to teach him to defend himself and with his loyal sister by his side managed to gain a little respect when he began to stand up for himself but not before gaining a chipped tooth, a few broken fingers and countless bruises. It gave him a hatred towards bullies and understanding towards others who were bullied often befriending many other kids around the hold who were in similair situations.

When it came time to Apprentice he decided to follow the family craft and Apprenticed as a Smith under his father at 13. In his spare time he kept to his hobby of jewellery making a skill gained from his mother. While he experienced some bullying again on behalf of his "girly" and "soft" ways, he once again earned some respect with the other apprentices through his hard work at the craft and coming out the victor in a few fights.

To celebrate passing his exams his family gifted him with a flit egg which hatched to give him brown Dusk. But he wasn't to stay an apprentice for much longer. At 15 Search dragons from River Bluff Weyr arrived on Search and he was Searched. His sister had been Searched 2 Turns before him and was already at the Weyr training as a Harper while she was a Candidate as she had failed to Impress the first two times she Stood. While both stood again only Raen came away Impressed to a green, Kel was left disappointed.

The odd bullying that cropped up he also dealt with and the bullies soon gave up when they realised he couldn't be easily bested. After he decided to stay on at the Weyr and he chose to continue with his trade under the Weyr Smith still working on crafting his jewellery. He loved living as the Weyr especially its more relaxed, tolerant attitudes and views. It was here that he finally admitted something he had been denying for most of his life that he was attracted to his own sex. His first ever love affair only confirmed his suspicions when he became involved with a Weyrbred Candidate by the name of Farren. The pair were close friends, as well as lovers. Still somehwat shy about his sexuality the pair kept their relationship close to their chests. Only Raen was let into the secret accepting it and loving her brother despite it.

At his second attempt at Impressing he was once again left disappointed and again left behind as F'ren Impressed blue Kardanonth. But the pair stayed close and merely put a halt on their relationship until such a time that F'ren graduated but disaster happened. During their First Flying lesson F'ren's young blue took a bad fright and instinctively went /between/ and the pair never returned from it. Devastated by the loss of his friend and lover Kel was grief stricken, withdrawing from his friends and duties,refusing to even talk to Raen.

But Raen finally tracked him down and gave him a stern talking to as only a sister can that no dragonrider or member of their family ever gave up. She told him she'd been offered a transfer to Dolphin Cove Wey and suggested he might want to try his luck there with a new clutch on the sands and come with her. Kel went away to think on her words and took the advice seriously, realising that he couldn't give up, that F'ren wouldn't have wanted that. He felt it might be easier to heal if he wasn't faced with memories of his dead lover every day. So he applied for a transfer and was accepted. He hopes this time he might meet his lifemate and become a dragonrider.

Dusk, Brown Firelizard: aged 10, hatched m3 d12
Dusk is a large brown flit with an appealing solid roundness to him and is a dark klah brown with random swirls of a lighter tan brown dotting his hide.

Personality wise he is a good-natured placid lazy sort preferring to snooze the day away or get his tummy scratched. His name gives a hint at his personality – right on dusk or dawn he up at the ready wanting his breakfast or dinner. He is friendly and easy going, he will happily allow himself to petted by, held by or be fed by just about anyone.
