Physical Description of Persona:
Sandy haired and dark eyed, Taine is a pleasant looking man. He's of medium height and build, strongly muscled but not obviously so.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Very conservatively holdbred, Taine originally struggled to come to terms with male-male relationships when he arrived at Dragonsfall Weyr but has grown into an easy-going acceptance of all the variety of people and relationships within the Weyr.

History of Persona:
Taine was born Caitaine, the eldest son of a journeyman smith and his wife. When Taine was three his smithcraft father, Cait, was working at Vista Point Weyr when he unexpectedly impressed blue Reith. Naina, Taine's mother, refused to have anything more to do with her husband and the couple's two boys had no further contact with their father. Naina also dropped Cait's contribution to the boys' names and so Caitaine became Taine.

Naina remarried a few Turns later and the boys were raised with their step-father and half-siblings.

Taine apprenticed as a mason at 12, and by the age of 32 was a senior journeyman with a good reputation in the craft. However, his interest in his father was growing and (through his maternal grandmother) he learned that his father had Impressed and eventually Taine located him at Dragonsfall Weyr. A little nervous about meeting a man about whom his mother had not been complimentary, Taine organised a posting to the Weyr as a senior journeyman mason studying earthquake-proofing techniques under the master mason there.

After a difficult start in adjusting to the prevalence and openness of male-male relationships Taine finally found his father, C'ait, and introduced himself. The relationship developed slowly, almost cautiously, on both sides.

When Taine's earthquake-proofing study was completed he was recommended for promotion. This recommendation was endorsed and he was promoted to master in Turn 2.

In Turn 3 Taine became involved with a greenrider, Rayche. Despite a troubled start to their relationship because of some lingering holdbred attitudes on Taine's part they eventually resolved their differences and became weyrmates.

Large and clever for his colour Surf is and always willing to 'help'. Unfortunately he can be a bit clumsy. He is an attractively toned light-blue with some dark dappling on his hindquarters.
